2019 S560, 3 days old already defective!!
Purchased my second S560 in the last 12 months, got rid of 2018 because the next day after I purchased it I was already at the service department, in all 6 times (6 different issues) in less than 900 miles of ownership. Traded that POS and loss major dollars. Fast forward to this week I was dumb enough to purchase yet another S560, this time from Mercedes Benz of Manhattan that was on 10/31, today is 11/3 and the car is already defective. The damn trunk won't close, it happened 2 days ago, I said to myself there's no way I purchased another FLAGSHIP S560, I called my sales person who told me that it must be a glitch and that it would go away, after 3 hours of trying just about everything it finally closed. Today I had the car hand washed, they opened the trunk to dry the water from the edges of the trunk, they went to close the trunk and sure enough, the damn trunk did not close. we tried for over 5 hours and no luck, at the end we use DUCT TAPE to hold the trunk down, yeap DUCT tape on a brand new 2019 S560 so I can at least make it home. I called Mercedes Benz of Manhattan 5-6 times while trying to get this trunk to close and not one person helped me. On my last call to the dealer, I was told by the gent on the phone that is a knowing issue with some 2019 S560's and that Mercedes Benz has zero solution yet. Honestly, I've been a fan of the brand for 19 years, I cannot believe this ****. The best or nothing my ass............. I'm done with Mercedes Benz

I've seen the trunk latches act up on some of the new cars, but that sucks on such a brand new car.
|
Perspective is important.
|
At least MB had the foresight not to include a spare tire that could be stolen out of a open trunk....
|
They'll sort this stuff out for you. It's just a machine, machines can easily screw up whether it's a Toyota Yaris or a Mercedes S560. Stick with the car, bring it back to the dealer and they'll fix everything. New cars can easily have weird glitches. Mine did too. I learned to be just be grateful to have such a beautiful, comfortable car and that it may have some eccentricities. Most guys in the US would be fortunate to have such a nice car as yours. If you bought a BMW 750i it could have had issues too, or a Lexus LS500 or an Audi A8. They're complicated machines.

first world problems . . .
|
Sorry to hear about your problems , I know a duct tape can get its magic ruled out out in many situations and Mythbusters have also confirmed that many times however using it in a Mercedes-Benz to hold something down is very weird
|
This would be a great opportunity for MB to market their own branded trunk tape price determined by type of Mercedes. C Class tape starting at $200 per roll up to S Class tape at $500 per roll. Naturally any AMG trunk tape would carry a premium because it was put on the roll by a certified Mercedes employee rather than by machine. It would only come in Black, Silver and White since no other colors on the planet actually exist..... |
That used to happen on the 07 s550's too. software glitch.
|
I had the issue with the trunk not closing using the hands free trunk open/close. Software update did the trick. Sucked that happened on a brand new car though, but as someone mentioned, it’s s car. |
I had the same thing happen to me this past Week on a 2018 S63. I have yet to take it to the dealership but will do this week.
|
I also have the problem of the trunk not closing once in a while. I was able to close it by tapping on the button on the driver's door a few times so that the trunk closes little by little. I just got off the phone with my dealer and here is the scoop. MB is aware of the problem and they say it's a defective part. My dealer said that they will call me as soon as the new part comes in. They have had several other customers with the same issue. Meanwhile, the service manager told me that if you press on the button (button that manually opens the trunk) underneath the trunk door a few times you should then be able to close the trunk. It's just a small inconvenience until the new part arrives.

KVN, don't feel like you are alone. I received my new S560 two weeks ago, and after 14 miles, the "Check Engine" light came on. Drove it straight to the dealer, (MB Escondido) who diagnosed the problem as a spark plug misfiring. Found the faulty plug with a damaged ("no gap") bent electrode. To their credit, the dealer did a thorough inspection of all the plugs, cylinder compression, engine functions, etc., etc. before replacing the faulty plug. No duct tape fix for that baby. They had to special order a spark plug, not having one in stock. Can't imagine what a new spark plug cost. Now, with 500 miles on the odometer, all is well and so far I'm very happy with the new ride.

OP, I'd recommend looking at a Kia instead.

Now I'm told that there's a recal on ALL 2019 S560 models. I'm very disappointed and angry, like I stated before this is my second S560 in a year, the first one had 5 different issues and I only owned the car for less than 1,000 miles. Now I'm stupid enough to buy another S560 and this crap happens. Some people here don't get it, I know is a car, a machine with lots of computers etc. inside however you spend this type of cash on a car and buy into to "THE BEST or NOTHING" Mercedes Benz propaganda for a reason, and trust me the last thing you expect from an S class is to be at the service department soon after you drove the car of the lot. I'm so turned off by this crap. Great quality control Mercedes.

I certainly understand why having two S560's with issues so soon is disappointing. It seems you see the value in what the car has to offer overall, do get yours fixed and perhaps write a letter to MBUSA documenting your issues.

There are other ways to get this resolved. 1: Lemon law if it applies to your state. 2: Contact MBusa at the highest level management. Here is the information that might come handy: https://www.elliott.org/company-cont...enz-usa-mbusa/ https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...f76b6a7fce.png |
Same here; 2018 S560 and trunk won't stay close every now and then. MB has no solution yet.
I try not to use the trunk but if I have to and it won't stay closed, I push the emergency release button on the inside a couple of times and try it again. After some iterations it stays closed. Very annoying, no doubt! Dan |
I only had it once, the trunk wouldn't close, but i found the reason: i left the carkey in the boot.
If the carkey is in the boot, the trunk will not close. |
I just took delivery of a 2019 S560 and asked the product specialist about this problem. He told me Germany thinks it has to do with the Key FOB proximity to the trunk.
He suggested that you use the release/lock on the door or stand away from the vehicle when trying to close the trunk. He thinks software is coming to fix. |
Still no fix for this issue. Amazing!
