That let me hope for just an issue with my AC.
The Bimmer and the S560 are both black cars.
Seat ventilation is quite useless, as it seems that the fans stop working everytime the car stops (you can tell by the noice). In commute traffic here, stopping is not rare though. But yes, I use it every now and then.
Oh and my issue is not that the car is not getting cold. The car freezes me to death during the first approx 20 minutes driving, blowing ice cold air at fan speed 7(?) at my upper body.
Just in case that didn't turned out right in my first post.

Do you have the CO2 refrigerant in your S?

I'm on my phone so cannot tell where you live. In parts of Europe the W222 now is using environmentally friendly CO2 as refrigerant. It has been now known to not be as effective as what was traditionally used. I just don't know if this is applicable to you. If you are Stateside then no it doesn't apply.

I think I understand what DanW222 is saying with regard to the AC. If it's say 90F outside and you get in your car after lunch or something and the temp is set at 76F - the car will blast freezing air at full fan speed for a minute or two to get the interior temp to 76 soonest. The AC gets cold very quickly, no issue there. It's just not "gentle" when the differential is high.

And my AC setting is DIFFUSE!
But we will see what my SA figures out next summer.
(In the BMW you can even select the temperature seperately, which the car puts through the front nozzles at you. So no freezing cold air at all if you don't want to. )

20 minutes seems beyond extreme to me. That said I do notice that even if the fan is at a low setting, once the selected temp is reached or near, the AC is quite cold. Mind you this has been the same on one C class and two E classes, the latter of which is a 2018. I don't have all the options you do on your S class.

Make sure the system is set fully on auto and both sides ( or all four if you have quad zone) are set to the same temp.. Having one side set drastically different will make odd things like that happen.
Minute or two??? That would be perfectly fine with me, but it is more like 20 minutes!

You are 100% correct! This is a pet peeve I have with the car and Quad Climate. If anyone changes any setting, it will stay that way until you go back into settings and Sync again. A great feature should be if the car is restarted and no one is occupying the other seats, it defaults back to "Sync" driver side setting... One can dream......

Anyhow, thanks for all the inputs here, unfortunately I keep my AC on DIFFUSE and SYNC (4 Zones) when this happens.
To mention one thing which makes me think the whole thing is just a software problem; My Ionization setting seems to change randomly to Off too.

FYI - the LS500 does have headlamp washers - in the US anyway - available as an option:
COLD-WEATHER PACKAGE
(Standard with AWD)
Windshield wiper de-icer
Headlamp washers
Enhanced interior heater for faster heat output in cold weather

FWIW i think my benz is superior to my BMWs is almost every way, however to be fair, i'm in an S now versus two 5's and a Z4 - not exactly apples to apples.
I will say my biggest disappointment (boo hoo, 1st world problems) is the benz nightview pales in comparison to BMW's at least as far as usability to me. The BMW has infrared and it's cool - like you can unlock secrets - which pole is emitting warmth at night, you can see cats, deer, people, etc. and the system will mark them for you - the benz is essentially a much clearer black and white tv image that at times can see further than the headlights -- BUT THERE'S TOO MUCH INFORMATION! with the BMW, the screen is sort of muted, and warm objects pop out - with the benz it doesn't show heat (though i understand there is also an infrared component) but instead it shows a black and white image of EVERYTHING.
i wish benz could emulate the BMW system.
i do also think searching via the web was easier/more intuitive/more usuable on the BMW, but otherwise i can't see any compelling reasons to go back to BMW - in fact, their current 5 was too "plasticky" to me and cut out features i liked, and felt cheaper overall - still a great car, but when i didn't like the new 5, they pushed me out - and i stepped right into benz's waiting hands - the night profile of the S and E just can't be beat, in my opinion.

The boffins at Stuttgart essentially ask S class drivers every time they push on the pedal "you sure you want to accelerate? If so, are you SURE you want to go there that quickly? Chill out, enjoy the ride!"

By the way, were they trying to save money on there side mirrors? Can they POSSIBLY make them any smaller?

I am getting used to it as well. It seems like the 2002 E430 I had before this S550 was a bit easier but really now, can they make the 550 gas pedal any harder to press? I now have the most muscular right foot in the northeast.

Hmmm , if that's the case then S Class Coupes' mirrors should be as dumb as oyster considering their different spot
