Switched fuse or location to hardwire radar

Switched fuse or location to hardwire radar
I’ve searched the forum and have not found the answer to this. Has anyone found a good location to hardwire a radar in the 2018 S? None of the fuse locations on the driver side or passanger footwell are switched. The S does not have a cigarette lighter plug in the passenger footwell as other models do. I was trying to avoid running a wire to the trunk fuse location. Thanks for any help.

This has been discussed before and there are no good locations in the cabin. One member had it run out the firewall to the hood fuse box. And there's the one you mention in the rear.

In my 2015 there is a switched fuse behind the panel on the side of the dash. Rectangular shaped panel just pops off and there should be a switched fuse in that location.

I tried all of the locations and they are no longer switched in 2018. Odd thing for them to change.

i was hoping that wasn’t going to be the answer. Thanks and I’ll report back if I can get creative.

I had mine wired by my local MB dealer. They ran the wire through the firewall wall on the drivers side to the fuse box in the engine compartment, apparently there is an access port for running wires through the firewall

Does anyone know the fuse for the 14' model by chance? It is my understanding from the thread in the pre 18 cars there is a fuse available that can be tapped for a radar detector, where is it located?

Any chance you can take a picture or point out which one? I have been checking them over and over again.

I installed a radar detector in my 2019 S63 and I used the cigarette lighter circuit. I took the ashtray panel out from the dash, it is just below the center vent holes. It is two screws, one on each side. Once you remove the screws the whole unit just slides out. You will need to meter the wires to determine switched 12V and ground but once you do that it is a simple matter of getting the wire to that location. I popped the side dash panel from the drivers side dash and used a straightened coat hanger wire as a wire pull device pulling the wire from the ashtray area back to the side of the dash. Once you get the wire there you can run it up the A pillar and into the headliner and out where you mount the detector.

Does anyone know of an always on source, in the front cabin? I need to tap into fuses for a switched (on only when vehicle is on, ie. cigarette lighter or fuel pump) and an always on fuse (alarm, anti theft, etc?).
Trying to install a dashcam with power magic pro. Difficult to tap into the trunk fuses...I've checked passenger footwell fuses but not too sure about those.
