S560 advice requested!

Hey guys, I am coming here pretty ignorant but thought I could get a little help from you guys if you wouldn’t mind taking the time. I have done the online research, YouTube, reviews etc but as I have never owned a Mercedes I figured you guys may be able to offer some insight.

I don’t have a daily driver and have been wanting to pick one up and have my eye set on ordering the S560L in white with black interior and the rear seat system with the center consol etc. Being honest I’ve not even driven any Mercedes product yet however I have ridden in one S550 for about 20 minutes, had time in the 7 series and A8L. From these experiences I can say that I have done I like the S Class the most desired not a question here.

The questions I do have are not too many,

as an owner would you buy again right now knowing that the replacement generation will be comin in 18 months?

Would you buy the S Class again just as a general Statement based on your experiences?

I am looking at the 560 but too am not against a deisel model for its range. To be honest the power of the V8 is of little interest to me however I have been told how smooth the motor is and while not as efficient as the diesel it sounds as if it’s a more pleaseureable drive. After having your current model would you recommend the diesel or the 560? I will do about 30-40.000KM per year and the fuel costs aren’t the biggest issue rather a nice driving car that is smooth from both driver and quite importantly the passenger seat.

As always i am very thankful for any input you guys may have and wish you a Merry Christmas!!

S600
I bought my S600 in late 2015 as one of the first 600s to arrive; diamond white with nut brown interior.

I love how the thing slithers down the highway with that delicate balance between being luxurious and actually obeying the drivers commands.
I am averaging <basically> 20 MPG overall and I can get into the 24.x MPG range on long interstate drives.

I bought the car after having owned a 1991 Q45 for a few years until my son wrecked it. I had been wanting a nice big luxurious car again for a while.
The W222 is well worthy of its denotation as best of the <affordable> luxury brands.

I would never, ever get a diesel. Ever. I would definitely buy my car again since I much preferred the looks of it over the A8 or the BMW B7 or M760i. The seats, the exterior, the interior, much nicer in the MB. Don't think much more, just do it. You'll be SO glad you did... My friends also adore the car. Personally, I would never buy one with something in the back seat that didn't allow for 3 people back there. Never. I have 5 in my car regularly (including me).

And are you going to get a nice pillow like this in many other cars? ;o)

2020 S560 Sedan, 2019 SL450, 2019 E450 Luxury Trim Wagon, '24 BMW I7 on order...
With an 18 month lead time before the new (W223?) Model comes out, I absolutely would NOT wait. Life is WAY too short and I would get that new S560 ASAP!

I have a 2018 S560 and it is truly an amazing car and a near perfect luxury sedan. I assume you are not in the USA, as we do not get a diesel variant of the S Class here. That said, I have owned a diesel, a 2014 ML350BT and would probably never buy a diesel again, especially in a luxury sedan, where comfort is a priority.

I had a 2013 S550 and a 2015 S550. Both were fine cars, but the S560, in my opinion, is a HUGE step up, in comfort, smoothness and quietness, which are huge priorities for me.

Hope tbis helps and good luck to you!

I agree. Any known issues have all been rectified and you should see no problems in a 2019 car. I have basically had zero problems with my S63 (2017). The new model will probably not be that much better other than more advanced autonomous features. Even then, I'd rather wait until they get that perfected before jumping for every new gadget. Plus, they are just getting more and more expensive. All cars are now outrage in all sectors. I pretty much hit the top of my price point at $150,000. The new fully loaded S560 fully loaded can be had for around $122,000 and I feel that this is a bargain considering what they will cost in 2021.

You must have gotten lucky as the 7 spd amg mct trans was not known for anything very good espceially smoothness in auto mode. Thankfully the new 9 speed version is light years ahead.
