2020 W223 Release Schedule

Hi All,

Some of you remember me - as the arch nemesis to a couple of the mods on here. I'm back here and there to see how everyone is doing.

Curious about the timeline of the W223 release. Every article I've read (10 or more) have stated the car will be a 2020 model year. Thus - release date would typically be in 2019 (August).

As the W222 was just facelifted - why the quick release of a new model, (If the reports are correct on the W223 being a 2020 model).

Anyone have any further incite beyond the publications we have all read?

W220 was a 2000 model in America
W220 facelift was a 2003 Model in America

W221 was a 2007 model in America
W221 faceilft was a 2010 model in America

W222 was a 2014 model in America
W222 facelift was a 2018 (extra year) model in America

W223 to be a 2020 (shoudl be a 2021 according to the timeline)
W223 facelift to be a 2024 (if following W222 timeline) model in America.

By this timeline - the W223 should be a 2021 model - release August 2020, not a 2020 model released in August 2019.

Thoughts?

I have several people from my Instagram that work at Mercedes in development telling me the car will not be in people’s hands until summer of 2020 in Europe and fall 2020 in the USA. Take that for what you paid for it :-)

Credible info, Thank you. So it would be a 2021 for us. Asking because my lease on the Porsche is up Feb 2020 and debating if I'd get the 992 or get back into the S Class. After 4 S Class models - I am missing that beautiful comfortable living room ride.

You should drive both!
I've always been a fan of the S class ( and no other MB) -- and a 15 year driver of 911's...
It's nice to have both and appreciate what they each have to offer.
My wife says one guy doesn't need 2 cars. Ask any 911 owner what his other car is and chances are he has another.
driving a '15 S 550 is good enough for me. ( just have to hope for some reliability after 4 yrs....) the 991.2 is a nice add-on.

Perhaps down the road I'd have two cars. For now - for what I need - One is sufficient. Love the 911 - been my dream car since childhood. Driving around Brooklyn and Manhattan delivers not a very comfortable ride - and navigating curbs, potholes, and the like - became a bit more than I thought it would be. Though not enough to decide to switch out of it just yet. The new S apparently has some wild new interior - and maybe it would be nice to alternate between the two (every 3 years) though timing now would be the key issue - hence my post.

Considering average lifespan of any model is roughly 7 years , I don't see why not shall we see new model in 2020

The next S-Class will be a 2021 model in the U.S. released in summer 2020.

Yes, if you can afford it, just get both! I mostly drive my 911 unless the weather is bad, it's snowing, sleeting, salt on the roads, or if I need to haul friends around. Love them both equally. Just got a new steering wheel for my S63 but that's for another post :o).

CHUCKY! Nice to see you here again. I turned in my 2015 S550 about a year ago and got a 2018 S560. In my opinion, the difference is DRAMATIC! Much smoother, quieter, more comfortable. Feels quicker, faster and way more buttoned down. MBC works WAY better and the “Curve” function is nothing short of spectacular! The new transmission is a delight. Go drive a 2019 now and you won’t want to wait for the new model.
A belated Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from sunny OC!

I'd like to hear more about the steering wheel on your S63. I'm thinking about it myself because the suede just captures skin oil so much and is impossible to keep clean. I'd love to have a wood/leather combo steering wheel. Any ideas on cost of this??

I can't stand the Dynamica (fake suede) steering wheel to the point that I don't want to even drive the car much so I FINALLY sourced a "reasonable" priced wheel in the OEM S63 leather from these guys. They got me the steering wheel for MUCH LESS than my dealer charges. I'm not going to put pricing on this post but just contact him if you're interested.

Thanks to someone on this board, they connected me with them. GREAT to deal with. Bronislav Sirodan Is the person I dealt with there.

Best of luck,

Steve

W222 facelift was a 2018 (extra year) model in America

By this timeline - the W223 should be a 2021 model - release August 2020, not a 2020 model released in August 2019.

Thoughts?
Just a fun fact. I remember the 2007 W221 actually began in late 2005. As we all know, the W220 was such a disaster , MB was trying to apparently correct their mess as quick as possible. I had a W220 (2000) model and it was NOT a typical MB. Just a Chrysler pile of junk with a star on the hood. The W221 model was a much longer run than usual. Anyone considering one that was built before September 2006 should avoid them as they had some big time glitches in them. You can recognize the troubled ones by the navigation antenna nub being located on the trunk top rather than the roof top.

We have a both

got a 16 maybach and 18 amg gtc. Love them both but if I could only have one I would either add 100 hp to the maybach or sell both and buy a s63 or s65
