ABC / MBC Oil flush and filters

Hi,

I am Alex living in Cyprus (an island in the mediterranean Sea)

I bought a 2014 S500 L some months ago with about 45k miles on it

My car comes with the ABC or MBC system. I have read loads of threads of chagning oil of the ABC system is super important

as otherwise the hardware will wear off and break eventually causing quite expensive repairs and spare parts.

Has anyone does such change on a w222 yet? I have bought the oil and searched the net for procedures to do it and my problem is

A) I found it only for older cars w220 or R230

B) they mention a magnet filter to add to attract abbrasive metal part but there is no such filter for the w222 models and I am trying to find out what metal filter could fit.

So I wonder what experience or knowledge may exist her ein the forum for the process of ABC oil change on our W222 ?

Thank you for your participation in the thread.

I live in the states and that service is not called for till many many more miles beyond what you have. If you feel compelled to do the work you can buy a copy of Mercedes WIS on ebay and the directions are there on how to do the work.

nice, thanks for the videos.

Can we do a Rodeo mode on our w222 by any chance?

I guess would need to have a STAR Diagnosis system in place?

othweriwse have you been able to up or lower your ABC just by holding the button from the interior?

Because I tried and nothing really happened for me.

thanks for any further input!

I'm going to resuscitate this thread because I also have questions regarding a flush on the W222 ABC system (Magic Body Control). I don't mind a DIY but I'd like to see it done on a W222.

It is my experience that fluid accumulates sludge far sooner than when the manufacturer recommends a service. You should see the crap that comes out of the "lifetime fill" rear differential.

In my opinion Mercedes dropped the ball so to speak on original mileage recommendations for flushing out the ABC systems. I bought my 2008 SL550 used in 2013 with 35k on the odometer and the supposed light green ABC fluid was jet black with globby particles mixed in. For a company supposedly so meticulis about maintenance the recommended time interval for changes was way too long especially considering the ABC system and power steering system used the same pump with separate fluid reservoirs for each system.

I read through the WIS. In the W222, there is no replaceable ABC filter. To replace the filter, the entire hydraulic fluid reservoir must be replaced as the filter is integrated into the reservoir.

There is no procedure to flush and replace the fluid. The WIS calls for a filtering process in which the hydraulic fluid reservoir is first replaced. Then a filter process is performed to pass the existing hydraulic fluid through the new hydraulic fluid reservoir. Then the hydraulic fluid reservoir is again replaced.

This requires two new hydraulic fluid reservoirs and a STAR diagnostic system. This is seriously cumbersome. I don't mind a process that replaces the reservoir, but is there no simple process to flush the old fluid and replace it???? There may be a way to rig the return pipe into a bucket with the standard flush. I don't know whether the two hydraulic pipes are two-way (fluid flows both ways) or whether one is the inlet and one is the outlet.

With my 221 S65 I opened bleeders for ABC (engine off.. car set to max height) to dump fluid into my brake bleeding bottle (a big one). The car drops that corner. Start the car and repeat until she is ready to have fluid refilled and fresh fluid comes out. Repeat with each of the bleeders.

The 221 car had a replaceable filter. What problem got solved by making us replace the reservoir? Grrrrr.

The idea with the revised setup is that fluid degradation is not a factor for system failures but rather foreign contamination and the conclusion was that this was workshop or user caused.
The idea is then to reduce reasons for workshop or user to open the system and improve filtering of fluid.
Color change is due to rubber hoses and would not indicate a problem in itself.
