Outside Door Lights

Got my first issue on my S550. I noticed last night that the rear outside driver's side door light that illuminates behind the handle was not lighting up. I've enclosed some pictures and was wondering if any of you have experienced this problem and if so, what was the remedy? Thanks.

Driver's Door - light on

Rear driver's side door = light off

I am having this same issue on my passenger front door. Yesterday while washing/drying it I noticed it flickering. I am also having an intermittent issue with the door not unlocking when pulled even if the key is in my hand. Don't know if both issues are connected? I am making a small punch list for a dealer visit soon.

Yes I had the same issue on my 16 S550 4matic this past fall. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the lights in the door handle under warranty. If you are under the warranty period. No problem. If not, I am not sure how much it will cost. This is a common problem.

Typically, B2B cover's entire car including trim and bulbs. CPO you immediately loose Trim and Bulbs at a minimum. They also would not cover replacing the Lower Steering linkage at a bill over 1200-

Thanks. I have a 2015 with only 37,400 miles on it. Would that apply? Sorry about the questions but I always had a used car over 7 - 10 years of age with no warranty so this is new to me.

Look at your carfax, or ask your dealer your "in service date" which is the day it was sold new. The 4 years starts on that day. That is B2B then starts the CPO or aftermarket warranty. Whenever I buy used, which is usually 2-3 years old, I always ask the in service date as the warranty is part of the value to me.

Personally, I find a lot of dealers to play games. There are certain things that are covered on the B2B but they cannot warranty them to CPO a car. They are supposed to pay that repair. I looked at one CPO car and the front black trim in front of the sunroof was toasted by the sun. I asked why. He explained, the owner on a B2B can have it fixed under warranty but not by them to CPO. Everything to get the car up to CPO standards is on them. Added into the CPO price.

You just bought that car. I would go back to the manager, ask to see the detailed CPO checklist of everything checked and by who? Who signed that it was in working order? They should get that done! These days even Mercedes has succumbed to paying for the warranty and doing the minimum to meet that standard. Seems to always be a simple service- oil change, filter- new tires as needed to meet standard, new brakes/rotors as needed to meet the standard, detailed, buy CPO warranty, print service records carfax---pump it out the door with a 1 year warranty added. Many years ago the CPO meant a lot more than today IMHO. Many years ago a lot of cars did not meet a CPO standard. Its still true the car cannot have paint work or an accident but that should not be the only criteria to CPO a car.
Good luck

If you are under B2B, you are covered. Go over the entire car, end to end, top to bottom. The center star on the horn I had the Chrome flaking off, they replaced it under B2B. It is actually part of the Airbag assembly. Cost of the component would have been over a grand.

Just received notification from the dealer that they want me to bring the car in on Friday morning to get this repaired under warranty. They even have a loaner set up for me to use while they fix this issue.

Good for you. Good luck. Introduce yourself to the service manager and explain the timing and why your there. Let him oversee your warranty.

I only have 37,500 miles on the car. Probably B2B. I'll find out more details once at the dealer.

Had the same issue on mine. Two were out, one on each side. Both were replaced under warranty.

When one gets the extended MB warranty it is just like the B2B, however, it excludes battery, light bulbs, shocks and struts.
