Safety Recall "some" 2018 S560's
I received 2 safety recall letters for my 2018 S560 4Matic, both about the same issue with slightly different items. They indicate "some" (including mine) have a potential problem with the Hands On Detection (HOD) for the driving assist and distronic features: the problem is basically that the car's software may not detect when your hands are not on the steering wheel and thus not give the warning to return your hands. Some may call that a feature and not a bug The problem is in 2 places - the software and a part on the steering column that may be misaligned. I haven't seen any other mention of it on here, so I am making this post for general interest.
What I find interesting is that both letters indicate there is currently no solution to either problem and further notices will be sent when the software/hardware can be fixed. I haven't noticed this happening on my car yet and don't know how wide the "recall" is. Like I said, some who go to great lengths to tape stuff to the wheel to defeat the system (there are reports and videos) will find this to be a new feature vs a recall.

Hopefully, mine has this "defect". I can guarantee you, I would NEVER have it fixed.

Yup, I get what they are. My question is whether anyone had them addressed on their vehicle, and what the experience is. The SW update is not intrusive (although they may change the experience quite a bit), how about the boot check/rework? Is it intrusive? Does the vehicle drive properly after the service? What is the experience? TIA
