I think he means after restarting the car.. I think you have to go 3rd party. It would be nice if the car would retain all my settings between "reboots". I tire of some engineer/marketing/government telling me how I should like things.

What I miss most about my BMW was the feature that allowed you to turn off auto start/stop indefinitely. Now I start my car, turn off the parking brake, turn off auto start/stop, then crank that lever down and get rolling. I feel like I'm firing up a fighter.

While Mercedes doesn't offer this, this is easy and cheap via 3rd party to keep ECO off permanently without affecting warranty...
Costs about $100-$500 depending on brand.

Here are some options:

https://www.midcityengineering.com/product/eco222/
Couldn't find a link for the Brabus module but it is called "BRABUS Start-Stop Memory"

At least with Mercedes to don't have the doubling up of start/stop button presses or door handle pulls. We used to have to code the car to normalize our 7 series for daily use.

No option to keep it in sport beyond restart. But it's not the world to press 2 vs 1 button.
