Trunk issues

Ok I did search but did not find what I need. Juts need quick fix before I go to dealer.

After all these years now the trunk is acting up. It just will not latch and goes up and down using every button there is. I tried the emergency lock button which worked once but now it doesn't work again.

Where is the trunk fuse?

On a funny note I was with my family and we were parked in front of an open air bar and did the patrons have a laugh watching us try and close that trunk. They should have paid us for the entertainment. I was laughing but after 20 minutes it got old quick.

Try operating the outside trunk lid handle, this should start initiation sequence so lock returns to its basic position and allow for latching until it can be repaired. Most likely lock needs to be replaced.

Are you saying that the power trunk tries to close but then opens again? It has a pinch protection that will force it to open if it detects an obstruction while closing. My S550 coupe was intermittently re-opening while trying to close, so I turned the two little knobs on the top edge of the trunk and that seems to eliminate the problem. Turning the knob raises/lowers it and tunes the pinch protection when the trunk is fully closed.

Thanks, I'll try the above but it seams to have fixed itself which we all know is the worse thing as it will just come back. I was trying to avoid dropping it off before next service.

Thanks!!

I hate when people don't post the cure to the problem.....

Mikey you appear to be the winner here. I brought it in and they just turned the bumpers about 1/2 to 1 full turn in and I was on my way within a few minutes. It has worked fine since so hopefully that was it? Funny though how they would work themselves out after all this time but?
