Sport version S Class 2021
Long ago, I posted a query if there would be a sporty model 223. The general responses were, no way.
Just saw that BMW is offering the new 8 in a grande coup version. If it's as lux as an S, I'll consider it. Gotta give people what they want. And, I've been with MB for forty years. Just sayin'.

The original N63 was not a great engine. They have since moved onto the N63tu and N63tu2. I believe other applications since 2016. I had a N63tu with 80k miles on a 2014 X5 50i and it was a champion, raw power with zero issues.

Reluctantly, I understand and agree with Wolfman. But, if MB is trying to attract younger buyers that are in the market for an S Class (read wealthy) and who are attracted to lux and space, then they would give the sport a try. If it fails, as did the S Class coupe and cab, well then at least they would have tried. Forum thoughts?
I just looked at a dressed GT53 and while it is snappy looking, the interior is the same as an E. Sat in it and as Wolfman said, it's like a suit that's one or two sizes too small.

The issue is that the luxury coupe segment at this time is very small and manufacturers like MB have to invest into EV development. AMG at this point is the go-to for MB's younger buyer demographics, comfort be damned

Whatever MB does—short of truly paring their model offerings—something has got to give. The number of models currently available is mind blowing! In addition, many MB dealers have taken on the Sprinter line of vans, most all doing so on the same amount of real estate they have had since before the Sprinter brand was launched. Dealer lots are crammed with the bread & butter cars in black or white. Then, most dealers are trying to stuff an AMG specific showroom into their locations as well. And don’t look now, but the thousand pound gorilla of the all electrics line up is waiting to descend on these already overcrowded facilities. SOMETHING has got to give!

Sporty in appearance, swooping roof, different grill/front end but same lux interior and suspension as sedan. Whatever, apparently it will not see light of day.

Mercedes-Benz seem to cut off some low sales departments .In short , we will be seeing more selling models only some low sales models to be pruned out for good . So, in this sense the chances for us to see more coupes over other models is nothing but a far fetched remote idea . Don't get me wrong I love S Coupes though but Mercedes-Benz AMG GT can do the job well done

The S Coupes are grand, luxurious and very comfortable. (and reasonably fast when needed). But their focus was on luxury or even ultra luxury. The AMG GT is focused on sporty performance driving at the expense of luxury. Two very different cars for two very different buyers. I prefer the S-Coupes, but that's me.

I had a new 1987 560SEC. Very nice car. Every other S Class car has been a sedan. I have a very hard time with cars like the S Class Coupe, that offer less than an S Class sedan, but cost more, just because the market for them is so small. Get an S Class sedan and a nice SL for when you want to be sporty. AND, the top comes down!
