New W223 Model
When will sales begin in the US and how much of an impact will it have on W222 prices? Your thoughts?

Same impact had on previous outgoing S Class cars. I can't imagine it really affecting values that much. There will some that will prefer the previous generation but I expect many will flock to the new generation. It will be interesting though. Personally if this depiction is accurate I will likely pass. Those taillights remind me of a Passat or Acura.

Every new S-class pushes the boundaries in technology. I don't see why the next one won't be any different. Expect the S450 (inline) and S580 (mild hybrid 4 liter). It will be an amazing car, but the current post-facelift 2018+ version is no slouch in technology.

Countless magazine articles and surveys told manufactures to put knobs on the radio and AC controls. No knobs was the number one thing I hated about the Cadillac Escalade. I bought the Denali with knobs. When your driving and want to quickly lower or raise the AC fan, or volume of radio you shouldn't have to look at a screen. That takes eyes off the road. I love the S center console to quickly lower the volume, or switch controls. Also like any computer or phone what about when it locks up? Volvo had issues with "just" a screen. There should be redundant knobs also. This will be a mistake. Cutting edge in a C class is understandable for that demographic. I am only in my 50's and don't want to learn any new tricks in my S class! I like new things and the new tech, but need intuitive and easy. And knobs!!!

Holy smokes, if THAT is the new S class then I would never buy one. It looks like an Audi and the interior! Oh man! That interior! That is bloody awful! Looks nothing like an S class interior. The way of the future or not, I do not like that sort of control panel.

I have SEEN this car in person, at two MB sponsored model evaluation seminars. I very strongly believe that the car you see in these “renderings,” IS the new S Class, gigantic tablet on the center stack and all.

Well I have said for years the "iPad" in the center of some MB models looks like such an afterthought. I really thought they could have integrated it so much better in time. But now it has gotten worse. Looks like an iPad for the gauges and a big tablet for the console. I can't imagine they didn't survey this? This just doesn't seem like an S class.... I have respected many of their changes and learned to like a lot of them but this.......seems like it could be in a Lexus.

Has this new model's grill "mistakenly" installed upside down ?
If I had a W222 I would stick to it no matter what or however technically advanced the W223 is

This is what happens when you put god damn geeks in charge of design.
Do they even drive these things in real life?
Haptic controls require more precision from the driver when inputing any data, with car on the move, slight movements and shaking (even S-Class can not avoid it) prevent that exact and precise placement of your finger on the app or symbol.
What about the sun glare?
With sun overhead these screens are just blank ugly surfaces full of fingerprints and smudges.
This garbage turned me off the new Panamera and will surely prevent me from spending my $$ on this new S-Class too.

Mercedes sent me a letter the other day offering me $200 to go to Jersey City to take a survey on their cars. I imagine it would be way too late in the game at this point to make any changes, and I tend to agree this is probably THE new S Class.
I showed a friend the picture and he joked "Why don't they just put a big 45" Samsung TV in there". He too has had multiple S Classes.
Love or hate the iPad design - the rest of the dash is so plain and boring. There's no elegance here. I always thought that S Class was supposed to be the alternative to a Jaguar XJ back in the day - and then BMW 7, Audi A8 but more so - a Bentley or Rolls Royce before they went crazy high end.
You guys are all car buffs - probably since childhood like me. Remember the Bentley Mulsanne or Brooklands or Turbo R of the 90s?
The Rolls Royce Silver Spirit of the 90s?
Back in the day the W140 was such a perfect competitor to that - both inside and out. The level of wood trim - the proper amounts of chrome - the sheetmetal looked and felt like a tank.
Then corporations bought up those 2 british brands - and now Entry level prices are double the price of an S Class - but yet S Class managed to steal a lot of their customers with their high end S600. The interior was lavish - sumptuous - luxurious - cozy - and classy. It was the AP Watch - or the Patek.
Now - its an Apple Watch - as the british marks stay on course building the AP and Patek cars going forward. Did you all get a look at the new Flying Spur? This is where S Class should be on a sophistication level - not a Tesla. Just my humble opinion. VERY disappointed.

Well said 100%. I too have owned multiple S Classes. MB has drifted way off course in relation to where Bentley is. The new Flying Spur is about as perfect as a luxury car should be. Absolutely stunning and gorgeous. Elegance personified. Waiting for the new S with one eye open, like waiting to get hit in the face. I hope we're all wrong and MB comes out with a stunner.

Price for the new flying spur hasn't been officially announced but I read it's going to be somewhere in the $250K range.

We're told that the Flying Spur will be available to order later this year with deliveries beginning early in 2020. There's no word on price yet, but be surprised if it doesn't command an sizable increase on the outgoing model, which started at just under $230K with the W-12. For the target clientele that is unlikely to be a problem.

Well the Spur is out my price range, but.....gulp.......this makes the new 750 look pretty good despite it's mammoth grill haha.
Maybe that new S class design would include more luxury options as standard to make up for it.

The BMW Individual spec is very nice but that front grille is like a cartoon.

BMW 7 is not perfect but it might be a better than ever alternative depending on how the next S turns out. There are many of us that still want to drive a car and not a space ship.

Sad. Just very sad. I have driven and loved each S Class but this very well could be a first. If I was looking for a new S Class I would get the last year of the W222 instead. However as usual with me I must see it in person. These pics have floated around the internet and someone on here even bragged about seeing the new S Class last year but failed to provide any evidence of it

I believe you are speaking of me. I did see a car that looks almost identical to the renderings shown here. I saw it twice, in two of those "top secret" type of seminars. They even had us go through metal detectors to make sure we had no cameras, etc. I don't think that I "bragged" about seeing the car, I just said that I did. As far as "evidence" goes, all you have is my word.

Completely agree. One eye open here as well - though I tend to think as others do - these renderings are the real deal.
