Why this life-long pragmatist likes Trump

1) Was better than all the alternatives
2) He remains better than the alternatives.
3) The positive results of his actions far outweigh the negative.
4) Most of the negatives presented are about words, not actions
5) I don't need to "love" a politician to grasp #1, #2, #2, and #4 above.
6) It is fun watching people who hate Trump try to build logical excuses for why and repeatedly fail. (Ok, this is not pragmatic, but is extremely entertaining)

N_Jay,

Keep doubling down on corruption and, like the debt, the bill will come due.

Explaining

Explaining Trump to you would be like explaining Nixon to a Nixon supporter or Hillary to a Hillary supporter. There is a large percentage of the population in the US that will not see what is directly in front of their face. As a friend of mine is fond of saying, I can explain it to you but I can not understand it for you.

TO ME, the following is simple and obvious-

Nixon was a paranoid narcosis who thought the government was his private tool and that he was above the law.
Bill was a sexual predator and Hillary sought to destroy the lives of any women that dared speak of it. Had it not been for a blue dress, she would likely have succeeded.
Trump, see Nixon above.

You can not see all of the above clearly and there is zero chance of explaining that to you. Likely, you will only see those parts of the above that you want to.

Results are for losers. The Anti-Trump gang feeds on words.

The industrial revolution (Sinclair's version) and China's current consumption of the environment are two good examples of what thinking people should not allow to happen. There is a lot of good that comes from greed but unregulated greed is not sustainable. Put differently, smart people to not crap where they sleep.

Regulation and growth are a balancing act. Too much of either is not sustainable (read that as the capitalist version, not the tree hugger version of the word). There will be a price to be paid. The answer exists somewhere between hand to mouth subsistence farming and Dr. Seuss' Thneed. Regretfully, it takes thoughtful hard effort to forge consensus on these issues and there is no appetite for the hard work. It's too easy to just take without adding value.

As for Trump being responsible for growth, that's like saying Obama was responsible for the financial collapse in 08. Its just plain nuts. We elect criminals on the right and the left and they extract their price. Put them up on a pedestals if you like but we are all being played and we are idiots for doing this to ourselves.

So go ahead and eliminate the EPA because of all that bad regulation. I remember what LA was like (and yea, it was actually worse) before CA got a hard on for air pollution. Removing those protections will have consequences. Pruitt is a perfect example of someone that can ignore the damage from fracking in his own state (and yea, I worked for Schlumberger out of university so I do know of what I speak) thus is the perfect idiot to put in charge so he can do the same quality of work at the Federal level. Say all you want for that big bad average fuel economy regulation but I rented a Hyundai Elantra a few months back and that flippin thing got 42 mpg with an MSRP of $17K. Go ahead and roll it all back so you can put some $s in your pocket. Results were and are predictable.

Thinking conservative people do not make such mistakes. Greedy idiots do. I would no more consume all the safety margin in my own business as I would propose doing so in my government. As a whole, we are not smart enough to see this.

Trump is not a problem; he is a symptom.

Donald Trump’s economy isn’t much to brag about: Readers sound off
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usa.../amp/892354002

“the economy today is strong and growing, but it’s far from being historic.“

“In the second quarter of this year, the GDP grew 4.1 percent, but during President Barack Obama’s tenure it grew more than 4 percent on four separate quarters. In the first 18 months of Trump’s term, job growth averaged a healthy 193,000 per month, but during Obama’s last 18 months job growth equaled an even more robust 206,000. “

Over the most recent 12 months of Trump’s presidency, average hourly wages grew 2.5 percent, but under Obama in his last year, hourly wages grew 2.9 percent.

“No matter how you cut it, Trump’s economic performance, while laudable, is clearly far less than his hyperbolic rhetoric would have us believe.

break down the facts

obama didn’t create manufacturing jobs. He created trash part time service jobs, maids, casino waiters. those weren’t jobs just a facade.
2nd those jobs were all for like 55+..haha and weren’t filled and 2 part time jobs counted as one full time, all shady math. I wonder if this admin still uses that math. The quality of the jobs are higher

trump took a bull market and turbocharged it.

Obama’s market was going to rebound regardless.

big difference

The brattt lawyer simply wasn’t smart enough to negotiate and leverage, trump is on a whole another level.

no need to be negative and discredit or throw a comparison though..

tds?
