New Threads and Replies
I seem to have difficulty (most of the time), replying to threads. It takes like a minute, and then it returns an error saying, "Document contains no data." This does not happen when I post a new thread. What's the deal with this?

We've complained to Mr. Vanos, one of the moderators, who said a patch was coming which was thought to fix the "known" problem. I run into once in a while, and it seems to be thread-specific. Sometimes I can't post to one thread but have no problem responding to another while I'm still waiting for the first one. Eventually, it usually gets through. It's the only real problem with this board, and I wish they would fix it.

A real pain in the rump for someone like me who writes more than his share of copy. I frequently have to copy my posts to a word doc and save it, reversing the procedure several times to get the post to work. Very frustrating.
At times I think the whole site is frozen, because you can look at the posting times and see gaps of hours between posts across all the forums.
Since I'm bit@%ing, I'm sure this one won't post either. Let's see... Went right through. Go figure.

MarkL,
I've done the same thing (e-mailed myself a copy to attempt to post, later). Though, I've found that cutting and pasting multiple times usually works. My browser tends to keep the form data, when I use the its "Back" button.
Well, at least it's a known problem and not something gone freakishly awry with my configuration...
Hopefully it'll get fixed soon.

We upgraded the memory to 1GB RAM and we are upgrading the processor soon as well (right now it's a dual-733Mhz). The memory certainly helped and at this point, I just need to optimize the database parameters to mitigate this issue. I know it's a pain the a$$, believe me, but your patience is most appreciated.

I know of several different other forums who uses the same exact software and whenever i reply i just goes through with no problem. If you're already running about 1GB of memory or more it might be your parameters that just needs optimizing. Just my suggestion.

I have not been having any problems, although it does take a long time when replying. I know that in the last week, some other people have posted about having problems when replying, but it seems they are able to start a new thread.

I've had same problem. Type out the reply and then...wait and wait and wait and wait until it goes blank or I move on and never get my post to submit. It is frustrating. Glad to hear it is being fixed.:p

Sometimes I post, Sometimes I can't....
This board sometimes seems more buggy than a roach motel..... I spend time writing long replies to posts only to find out that I can't post, so then I just forget about it all together. This is frustrating....

keep a notepad file open, and cut and paste your responses, and just keep trying.... took me 15 minutes to chime in on the 203 board split thread

slow replies
Hi Ethan,
I'm no computer techy, but I have noticed that when the board seems clogged down and slow, if I dump my temporary internet files, it is much easier to post replies. So maybe some of our reply posting problems are local to our own pc's. Also, I have learned to right click and copy my reply incase I lose it.
