Rear seat DVD entertainment availability

Can someone help and answer these questions...my dealer is not able to.
1. When is the rear seat DVD system available?
2. Is it only a factory option, or a dealer-installed option, or both? If a dealer installed option is available, I could purchase the R500 now and wait till the DVD system is available.
3. Has anyone noticed the official MBUSA.com MSRP for the rear seat DVD system at about $1700? I thought it was about $3000.
Thanks

Different DVD Options

If i'm not mistaken, the $1700 one is the dealer-installed center console (back of front one) single-screen version that you can get also in the ML. The double screen (back of head rest.) is factory-only and is $3000. I had an R350 on order with this option but was told it is delayed indefinitely (reminds me of the navigation retro-fit issue when the 211 came out-so i'm not taking delivery until the MAKE one with the units installed). $3000 is steep, but the other is about a 7" screen; with the two you can actually pull from different signals.

You are right on the button carpersn. I just saw another post somewhere that the factory TV install will start again in December.

If you have the time, you should wait for the one you want.
