Today I went to start our r350 and my key would not turn. It was really odd. I drove the car all day yesterday using my key and I had no issues. But today I stuck the key in the ignition and tried to turn it. The key would not turn. Its like it was stuck or something.

The really weird part is, I used my wife's key and it works perfectly. I was able to start the car with her key. No issues.

So, my guess is, something is wrong with my key. but all the buttons works fine. I can unlock, lock and open the trunk.

My son was playing with my key and my wife said he stuck it in his mouth. But i doubt that would cause any short, epically since the buttons work.

Any suggestions? Do I need to get a new key? Or is there something else going on?

i know the key has to match the car-( be programmed) - i had no idea it wouldn't turn if it did not match, but it makes sense. My bet is the key was damaged by the "moisture". Let us know what it turns out to be.

May be worth posting this on one of the other more active sub-forums since the same Smart Key design is used on almost all recent MB models. You may get an answer quicker.

So my key dried out from my son slobbering on it and now my key works. Lesson learned, don't get your key wet it can stop it from turning your car on.
