I was at a light and i noticed that my coat was caught on the door, when I opened the door the car went into park by itself. i guess it's like a safety measure for those times when you run out of your car when you pull into your driveway and forgetting to put it in park!

On my new 2012 with Navigation, the dash clock is set from the time in the navigation system. I noticed this when I managed to run the starting battery down. The dash clock was moving rapidly clockwise and counter clockwise trying to set itself. Once the car was started and correctly charging the clock set itself to the correct time. Wonder if it moves an hour automatically when you cross a time zone?

To set the rear hatch height limiter, the key has to be in position two (run), and then follow procedure in the manual with the close / stop button. The key position is not mentioned in the manual. Hint: Remember to shut the key off after programing or the starting battery will drain.

No, it does not change time for daylight savings time. You have to go into system and tell it to adjust for daylight savings time or standard time. At least that is on my 2010.

I didn't know that an oil change and topping off fluids costs $380.

Good thing I have my own ramps and cases of RP.

Haven't tried anything on my 2012 yet, but the Command manual references an auto function for time zone and standard / daylight savings, so maybe a change? There is also a manual adjusting feature that deactivates the auto function. I guess we will see. Curious to see if the dash clock changes as well.

The analog clock in the central instrument cluster and the digital one in the Command are both linked together to the GPS. (Assuming you have GPS.)

No need to lift the car up.
Oil filter is on top of engine block next to the power steering reservoir.

Compiled list

Thanks to all the contributors to this topic, I took all the inputs and compiled one list, see below. If I missed any, pelase reply.

1. If you have automatic wipers, the rear ones go on when backing out of a spot in inclement weather
2. If you press and hold the recirculating button of the ac, all the windows including pano roof will close automatically.
3. Holding the unlock/lock button from the smart key will open or close all windows.
4. Pressing the windshield washer 5x consecutively will activate headlamp washers
5. RAINX will solve the vibrating wiper problem that everyone has, instead of wasting $$ on a new set every few months or so
6. The car auto levels itself (raises or lowers) when loading or unloading
7. On a red light on a steep incline the cars doesn't roll back for a few seconds after releasing the brake.
8. Pressing on the red tab on the hood lifters (whatever you call those) will allow you to open it up to almost vertical position.
9. When a brake light goes out, there is a reserve light for both sides.
10. Pushing the a/c recirc button after the engine is off will keep the cabin heated as long as there is heat and a good battery.
11. You can orient the map/nav unit north up or in the direction your heading
12. If the engine runs, and the car is stopped after driving (i.e. stop light) if you open the door the car goes into park by itself (safety measure?)
13. The analog clock in the central instrument cluster and the digital one in the Command are both linked together to the GPS. (Assuming you have GPS)

Thanks for the summary. I have a few remarks about a few.

1. This seems to only occur if you have the rain sensing wipers left on at startup. I have an acquaintance with an E350 and his front wipers do a startup sweep if he leaves them on.

2. I tried this on my 2010 and it does not seem to work that way, at least for the newer models.

3. This works, but I think it works off of infrared so you have to stand by the drivers door and point the end of the key at the door. You can see the infrared sensor on the door.

4. Very few newer if any new models have headlight washers installed. I think it used to come only with the HID lights, but no longer. I don't have HID so I could be wrong.

For the #2 "tunnel mode" on my 07, I had to get it programmed in via STAR at the dealer.

If you install BIG wheels, the airmatic suspension will compensate for ride harshness after a few trips. I went from 18" to 22", it was terrible the first day and perfect the second. The wheels weight much more which is bigger influence then the smaller sidewall. It now rides like a true Mercedes without having to use sport mode.

You can set the lower speedo differently from the rest! Neet if you want to see kph and mph at the same time.

Was looking under the car after installing a hitch and was wondering what those big rubber bags and interesting articulated sensor was. Hey self leveling rear suspension is standard!

One thing that would be nice would be to be able to turn off rear hatch control completely. I have a trailer hitch mounted bike rack and did put a rubber pad on the rack. The hatch will stop after hitting it lightly without dammage, but would be great to turn it off completely, say for when backing into a parking spot with a concrete wall or other solid object. Better yet a sensor. Many times I have raised the hatch only to hit a low pipe in an underground garage. yes I know I can set it to half height, but I forget!

LMAO when I first saw that. I pull it out and look at it every once in a while when I need a laugh. I just have to believe it was a good joke that made it into production.

If you lock the doors with the key FOB and then open the door from the inside, the alarm sounds. My 9 year old son discovered this today when he stayed in the car while I went to rent a dvd...

Just discovered this the other day in my 2012 R350. Underneath the upper layer of the middle storage console there are 3 slots to hold credit cards, gas cards or parking passes.

Rainx other uses

Re: The rainx tips above: If you have a glass shower door in your bathroom, try Rainx on that too. Last about 40 showers. No spots or soap residue on the glass without having to wipe it down.
