How different is the engine in an R63 vs R500?

I have a 2007 R63 and my check engine light recently came on. The code came back for the thermostat. I did a search but nothing really comes up for the R63. I know I have to replace the t-stat but are the engines different from the r63 and r500?

There is R63 forum on this site. You should post on there too.
Hope someone can help you.

They are completely different engines, but because they are both MB engines you will find similarities.

ok so the r63 engine isn't a modified R500 engine? It's a completely different motor?

That's correct the R63 has the M156 6.2L V8. The R500 could have 1 of 2 different V8's depend ending on the year and region; the M113 (4.2L, 5L, or 5.4L) or the M273 - actually there might be others - someone else can confirm.
