Ok I have been offered a high miles (over 150k) R63. The car is in incredible shape and looks like 50k not 150k.

Yes, UI have seen the $50k rebuild quote from the guy who did it himself. I am looking fro info as to approximate costs to have an independent shop redo the engine? Transmission rebuild costs?

I guess I would get more info from other model forums as there are other cars that have same engine that are more popular.

Trying to figure out possible costs down the road. I appreciate any info and real world experiences.

nice engine.. first AMG engine built entirely by AMG and not based on a stock engine.. Race all the way! Go for it! but you could also try to find a used one, as it was in many AMG cars. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_M156_engine

If you get it for less than 20k yes. Over that i wouldn't touch it. The rebuild cost for a 63 is astronomical

The guy who redid his own has a huge thread on another forum, he gives a few different cost break downs on that thread it's definitely worth the read.
