Car Wouldn’t Start

Okay, my 08 R350 4Matic w/ 140k miles just stalled at a traffic light and wouldn’t run. I can hear it turning so I am suspecting that it’s not the battery or alternator. Waiting for a towing truck as I am posting this on a snowing day. Any pointers or suggestions are highly appreciated.
p.s. I should’ve warmed up the car a bit longer.

impossible to say. you will need to check the obdII codes. Maybe as simple as a crankshaft position sensor.

Thanks, it was the fuel system failing. The pump and few other components were replaced. Now possibly towing the car again for door lock issues, the smart and physical keys are not working and there’s no way to unlock the car. This is my 4th Mercedes and I’ve never seen the mechanical key failing before!

physical key not working? you mean the lock is frozen/rusted because it has not been used or lubricated in 13 years? Who would have thought?

The current double whammy

as unlikely as that sound, nothing would surprise me anymore with this family hauler. It's just one problem after the other. Ok, help me out troubleshoot this guys, I just spent a little over a grand a couple of days ago on the initial problem and I'm really not looking forward to the following act.

Alright, so just to restate the current problem, I can't access the car at the moment. The door just refuses to open.

I don't think that there's an issue with the remote keys since I am seeing the red light whenever I press any button but I replaced the key fob batteries anyways for extra measures. Usually, I can open the trunk using the remote even if the car isn't running but that's not working either so I am suspecting that either the car's battery is dead or that the remote became defective. I'll also check the fuse box once I regain access. Either way, the manual/backup key (located inside of the remote key fob) should work, right? ... Nope, the door pins aren't moving at all and the car doesn't unlock. The key turns 90 degrees anticlockwise so they aren't shut and I've used this key a couple of times in the past when my remote batteries were running low so it's not like they haven't been used in a long while. I am assuming that the manual key lock mechanism is mechanical and doesn't rely on the electrical or pneumatic components since its sole purpose is to serve as a backup access point.

Any guesses? Maybe this mechanical connection to the actuator is just a flimsy plastic piece that broke? or the door lock cylinder itself is broken? ... what am I missing?

Great... I just noticed a faint continuous beeping sound coming from inside the car. Possibly some failsafe mechanism.

Have you chked ur auxiliary battery. It's located under the front passenger seat in front of the regular battery.

that is odd, I have attached the sections from my older 2008 owners manual on how to use the mechanical key.

it may not be straight forward..

Good Luck!
the car battery has to be very very run down for the fob not to work.
With these sorts of electrical problems always check the alternator too. Not just charging voltage but current too. .Most DIY cant do that.
As for the beeping, on my 2011 it beeped when I had massive electrical failures "tow car to dealer without changing gear" that was due to over voltage faults everywhere. new alternator did the trick
very oddd thing to diagnose.
