Steel Rims for 2012 R350 4-Matic?
 

Hi,

I did a google search trying to find steel rims for my 2012 R350 4Matic, but nothing came up. Same goes for a search on here. I also called a tire shop and they told me that they (MB) never made steel rims for the R350. So what are my options if I would like to get Winter tires but not have them mounted on the OEM rims? I live in a Ski resort and believe it or not, we have pot-holes the size of a VW Eurovan, ha ha.

Maybe if I knew the bolt pattern (no idea how to look that up), I could just google that and probably find a steel rim that will fit!?

I understand what 5 x 112 means, but I am not clear on "High Positive Off-Set"???

That is your "advice"? Just look for another set of W251 wheels? For real?

Deviation from size specification? Says who? I never said I want to change size specification. I am simply trying to find out if there are any steel wheels available for the W251...

I picked up a set of 17" alloys to get away from the run-flat 19", on car-part.com.
Came to $200 + shipping, I think 240 total.
Add a set of bolts I think were about $35, they are longer than the ones on the 19.

I realize you requested info on steel wheels, but assuming you're wanting a winter setup, the narrower profile of the 17 is more the benefit, than the material.
Anti-seize grease on the hub/wheel surfaces should alleviate corrosion/binding on the seasonal switch.

if you look up your owners manual you will find width and offset. Take a look at M class manuals for their width and offset. Most are close.
You can double check at most tire dealer websites for offset calculators to see how much more they stick in or out. but probably only 1/4 difference.
I run my 2011R with ML 17 inch rims on 235 width tires. So you have lots of choice if you look for ML rims at used parts lots.


if you want to do the work.

I had done it all but my drive crashed and lost most of my car files.

Or if you find steel wheels for a ML they probably will fit the R but you will have to buy all new shorter bolts that have a different profile probably too. that will set you back about 100.

so stick with MB OEM... buy used.

btw if your R had TPMS via valve stem mounted sensor/transmitters you will have to buy those too and have them programmed. Not sure if the US R uses those or if it can memorize more IDs.
Canada Rs always used roll diameter sensing.

Um your note on "hi positive offset" have you taken the time to look up anything about wheel sizes and offsets? Google is your friend.
zero offset means the hub flange is in the center of the wheel.
positive offset means the flange is towards the outside allowing the suspension/steering joints to be in the center of the wheel for easy steering and even tire wear.
Negative offset are the hot rod style deep dish wheels

if you are not doing any learning on your own would be nice if you where a bit nicer towards those helping you.. Need help? Be humble!
