HELP need to select a suitable / compatible steering rack replacement...
Hi there, newbie here, my (well loved) R320 steering rack is starting to leak and I think it will get worse quite soon. I'm not keen on a reman unit, not sure the quality is always good. The new racks from MB are just outrageously priced (I'm a normal salaried man). I'm hoping some smart person here can advise:
1. are the steering racks of the ML / R / GL compatible? its just the first few numbers (A251... or A164...) that seem t change across the parts, and the running gear is supposed to be common to all?
2. I have found an A2514600600, from a 2011 low km model that was parted out, but my model lists part numbers A2514600325 ad A2514600400. Can I use the 600 rack? Does anyone know what changed in later years, if anything?
3. Can I use an A1644600325 rack from an ML on my W251 R Class?
My car has the 213 option for Speed Sensitive steering assistance.
