No crank but everything else is working.
Is there a more definitive way to be sure the starter is bad? it's a bear to remove it only to find that it is good.
Incidentally, right when this problem first happened I got a code for the alternator interface. Pulled alternator and it tested bad so i did replace that. Easy on that one, at least. Wondering if the starter did go bad and caused the alternator regulator to go bad.
Honestly this does seem like a bad starter.... but I am thrown by the "remove key" message that immediately pops up.
Also. there are no good videos on getting this starter out, but just a glance at it tells me it will be a major undertaking.
If you are wondering, this vehicle does not have an ESL (electronic steering lock), which was my first guess when this happened but turned out there isn't one... besides, I am getting power to the relay when I turn the key, so I suppose that rules out EIS and ESL.
