Bad to the bone
Found these old skool Benz's. These things are just cool. Tell me what you think.

Very cool! Judging from the wood I would say these started out as 89-91 560SEL's. Any engine pics? I wounder if their is a nice 6.0 AMG tuned M117 under those hoods!

Sorry dude this all I could come up with
|
nice, iv been looking for a set of wheels like the first w126 i hecka like those nice pics :y
|
Those are the same wheels on both, one set just has the centers painted. My centers are being powder-coated right now. Notice the "DOHC/6.0" badge on the passenger side of the first car? I'm sure the second car has the DOHC motor too, has the 300kph speedo, Recaro interior... I'll bet these photos are from Japan, no?
|
nice cars...i wish to build one of my w126 like that..probably as soon as i can learn to save $$$
|
Good catch I didn't notice that badge!
Things really havn't changed much, people are still doing the same things to the W220's. I bet those cars ran well over $100k new probably close to $130k; back in 1990 or so! |
A 1986 560SEC with 6.0 32v AMG motor and fully optioned, (No fridge and TV, but Gleason Torsen differential, exhaust, CD suspension, etc), went for $143,000. Prices on 560's went up about 15 grand by the last year of production, '91.

I think the closest modern car to these would be the CL65/S65 AMG's.
$140k was a heck of lot of money back in the 80's, when you actually had to have money to buy one of these. Not like today where you can lease your way into one. What does $140k in 1986 dolars = in todays? I would guess about $220k? |
