How to tell if Calipers are Bendix or ATE?
Hi everyone,
does anyone know how to tell if front calipers are Bendix or ATE? I need to get some calipers and see two types listed, but i don't know how to tell the difference.

Usually it says on the caliper. However if you are replacing them it doesn't really matter. Since you replace them in pairs just buy two of the same brand.
Bendex or ATE it doesn't matter.
btw Autozone is a great source of rebuilt calipers at great prices, kind of surprising I guess they are good for something.

I bought 2 ATE
I bought 2 Raybestos reman ATE Calipers from a local parts house where I usually buy parts for my American cars. He said that SELs take ATE but I am not sure if this is true but since I am replacing both I don't really care. They were about $63 each plus a $40 core I will get back. He had one in stock and is ordering the other..will this matter since they are not from the same stock and perhaps cause a right/left imbalance?
Also, I bought from the partsbin some OEM rotors, Brembo, for about $50 each. My local parts house had generics for $25 each but I passed. I also bought factory brake pads for about $50/side from the partsbin (didnt say factory but when you expand the pic you see the star logo), plus new ATE hoses (***** this car is 25 years old so I figured not a bad idea) at about $24 a side.
I can still return the partsbin parts easily (they don't charge shipping so I am just out $7 to UPS it back to them) if you have any other suggestions.
I had a pretty crappy Midas brake job on my Mustang a couple years ago. A very subtle squeal still exists that the Midas folks can't chase down. Don't know if it is the pads or the Chinese rotors. Also, really bad brake fade and poor braking performance under hard braking. I know Mustangs don't have great brakes but the Midas job is worse than factory.
I would love new factory rotors but that is big coin to the tune of $250 a side.

OE rotors are cheap, I think they were $80 maybe last time I priced them out. I deceded to use ATE slotted rotors though.
Don't worry about the calipers as long as they are both rebuilt.
I paid $10 each for my brake lines. For $25 each I'd just buy some stainless ones from Goodridge:
