1990 300se head gasket problem. Please help
at first it had problem of broken off the spark plugs tips often and lost of coolant, very quick. Now it's dead. I think the coolant comes into the engine with engine oil.
The shop asked for $1k to fix it. I think what they do is replacing the head gasket, maybe will be more if they have to rebuild anything else.
I am really tight in budget now so I think I am going to replace the head gasket myself. Luckily I found a friend who did it himself on his celica before. He agree to help me. We are thinking of just replacing the head gasket and let see anything else we have to do when the engine block is opened up. Maybe we can just get some part, or maybe the whole head from salvage jard.
Now my question is.. what do I have to watch out and if in case I have to visit the salvage jard for some part (or maybe the whole head), then what year/model of car I can pull part from. Bascially, anything you guys know about this car would help me.

If your budget allows you would be best off sending the head to a machine shop to be rebuilt. Also Performance Products offers rebuilt heads. They ship you a new one, and you return your old one.
