300SE for sale $700
I have a 1989 300SE. It's not total garbage, but it's rough. I was daily driving it until 2 months ago when I found a deal I couldn't pass up on another car. Everyone in my area seems deathly afraid of an old Mercedes.
I need $700 to pay my parents back for the new car. I'm not looking to make out like a bandit on an old car.
There are plenty of negatives about the car, (it's a $700 w126) but I will say there are some positives:
I replaced the radius arm bushings, windshield, rear shocks, one motor mount, radiator, and various other items during my ownership. The dash is decent with 2 minimal cracks. Rear seat has some cat claw marks, but is presentable. Front seat covers are ripped up. It is set up for an aftermarket stereo to run to the factory speakers. All wheels are true. Trans shifts as it should. Engine leaks oil at the front cover. Both cats are intact and working properly. Exhaust is decent/not leaking all over the place. The monovalve crapped out and the ebay kit I bought did not fit. I have the valve blocked off to get heat, so it has heat whenever the system is turned on. You could swap in a good monovalve or just install a shutoff. The ac compressor worked, but the seals at that pipe are leaking. Sunroof inop/broken track good motor. Body rust is not too bad. It has the usual surface rust where the moldings attach. There is a small hole behind the right rear wheel. It needs a new hood spring. In my opinion, it needs all pads and rotors as well as a left front caliper. I think it may have shucked a pad, so I'd recommend doing the brakes here or trailering it if you have to drive too far to get it home. I can provide good pics and answer questions.
I could go on and on, but I think you get the idea. It's old and a little beat up, but has some good left in it.
