Which motor oil is recommended for southern California weather?

I use AmsOil 5w40 European Car Formula and a Mann Oil Filter #H929X. I live in both Phoenix, AZ and La Jolla, CA

That of course will depend on the engine you are running as well.
Many of the older motors require High Zinc formulas, yes. For them, I use AmsOil Z-Rod high Zinc.
I have a couple of older rides that have flat tappet cams and MUST have the higher zinc formula.
