1987 420 SEL
transmission leak

my 1987 420 SEL has pink transmission fluid dripping on the garage floor. It operates fine, I can add fluid, but what is the best choice? Car has 140,000 miles, and I could invest the few leak stop options into a full rebuild. Should I try the lower cost repairs, gaskets, tubes, etc. or just rebuild the thing for peace of mind?

Do you know where it is leaking? Front, back, side (left or right). Knowing where it is leaking will help decide. If it shifts fine, then probably no need for a full rebuild. My 88 560SEL is leaking at the B2 piston cover and the dipstick tube on the right side. I'm getting fluid on the exhaust mount. Both of these are not difficult to fix (or have fixed by someone who knows how).
