that is how I bought it. Apparently the v12 badges on S500 here signifiees that it is bulletproof. I don't know about the AMG badges.

from rice burner to S600 miracles to happen?
the s600 feels more like a boat than the s320. i know the turn radius has to be the same on both cars, but i feel more comfortable turning the wheel and doing a U-turn in the s320.
the S600 deff. feels heavier, but it has an 'i-am-better-than-you' feel when you drive it...very hard to explain.
the interior trim and even the buttons in the 600 feel better than the 320.
if i could have the 600's Interior, steering wheel, and grille on the s320, id be a happier man.
I like both cars equally, but there are features on each car i like more than the other.
ive never been in an s500 or driven one, so i cant compare it to that, but wow, drive an s600 and you will be amazed. i really think you need to own both cars...

i dont know what you need to look for, but just pay the benz dealership 150 bucks to give it a clean bill of health/inspection before you but it. may sound like a lot of money, but believe me, consider it an insurance policy.

There is no such thing as bulletproof by putting up a badge on a car...
Take them off, or being called a POSER....

BTW thanks for posting the pics in another thread. you poor misguided individual. But then I guess it is just your opinion.

What information......
I am telling you this, these 2 badges(V12 and AMG) and bulletproof are NOT RELATED!!!! No significant meaning
Putting a badge on any cars that its not intended for, POSER! [Open the hood, and double check if you forget there is a V12 AMG engine under it, and please post a picture if you do....
Bulletproofing an S class is a different story, it has nothing to do with sticking any kind of badges (Like AMG, or V12 on it....Bulletproofing a car is by integrating armor components, or any reinforced materials to make it bulletproof, like you said in diplomatic cars.
And yes, I know Mercedes or any aftermarket company is also building bulletproof cars for any governments, businesses, monarchs and heads of state. I think Mercedes calls these type of cars either "S-Guard" or "Pullman Guard is the long version" editions.

, you obviously haven't read the relevant information. Putting a badge on a car doesn't make it bulletproof, it signifies here in Indonesia that the car is bulletproof. I do have the paperwork and the history of this vehicle. If you don't know or uinderstand what happens in Indonesia, at least ask before slandering as you are obviously misinformed.

You can tell if it is bulletproof by the fact that your car has a 0-100Km/h in 14days and isn't allowed to pass some lighter bridges (weights over 3.5tons) just kidding .. of course it isn't bulletproof, you'd have black lining around windows and few distinctive features by which a pro can clearly tell if it is or isn't. ..nothing against your S500 - it is a beautiful car indeed, I just wanted to ask why the badging and didn't know I would start this flame

I just double checked if you want to learn something more about YOUR car
All W140's that were produced from 1991 onwards have the double pane glass.
Main reason for double layer windows was to prevent them from getting foggy. The windshield is ventilated and the rear window is heated - so no need for double layer.
Just to make it even more clear, armored windows look like this:
Weight of armored S500 is 8,500 lbs. (3,855 kg.)

W140 S class/body is simply an over-engineering car, no doubt about that!
Stop ruining the beauty of the W140 body style with any more badges, no need for it. Leave it as it from the factory.
Confuse about the fine line about modding and posing style....Here is one definition of a POSER --->"One who attempts to appear to others as something they are not...."
Modding a car can be referred to car tuning or modifying in term of personal style or for performance.....BIG differences imo

I'm almost crying after seeing so many raped W140 in this tread. Why would you rape a nice machine like the W140, by putting so many ugly, cheap-looking aftermarket stuff on it. Really, those aftermarket product make the car look very cheap. In my opinion, a W140 should look stock (clean?) and showroom condition. But thankfully I saw some nice clean Benzes in this tread. I myself really like the US-spec W140. Can somebody tell me the exact difference between a 1996-1998 EU and a 1997-1999 US W140, except the orange turn signals and trunk.
One question: Were those AMG rims an option on the W140? Maybe not in North-America, but maybe in Europe. I saw these rims couple of times in Russia.
I also spotted some posers in this tread. Why the f would you pose?! In my opinion, it's so pathetic to put S600 and V12 badges on your W140 that isn't a real S600.

All I know so far is that the "so-called" Grand Ed. S500 has the AMG wheels as standard with special exterior in 1999. Others may know about this topic, please shed more light on this because I would like to know more about it as well.
W140 S500 changes between years
In 1999, "To help mark the finale, Mercedes offered 600 copies of a Grand Edition S500 with special Obsidian black paint, black-and-parchment interior, and low-profile tires on 18-inch wheels. "
