Sunroof Shade Removal 96 S500
Has anyone ever removed/replaced the Sunroof shade on 96 Mercedes S series? Does the entire headliner have to come out? Anyone have any instructions or a good DIY site with details on how to remove? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Sunroof "shade" that slides back with sunroof is "worn" and the 2 "vent-like" plates are broken in pieces. so basically when the shade is closed there are 2 wholes/openings at the top where the actual sunroof glass is visible even while the shade is closed. The pieces just kinda broke off every time I opened the sunroof. Plus it was already breaking apart when I purchased the vehicle over 2 years ago. The man I got the central locking pump has same "identical" interior. He told me I could get it for $50 bucks if I could figure out how to remove it without damaging other headliner parts etc..... It's in mint condition.

Sunroof Shade removal
doesn't include the glass itself BUT he's open to me making him offer on glass and any other components connected. The thread on AMG sunroof removal (that's also in this series of responses) is very helpful. However, (unless I'm missing something) it doesn't appear to be exactly the same as the S500 series? Its' similar in some ways but on mine it doesn't look as easy to remove as it is on his instructions(which are very thorough and you couldn't ask for a better "step by step" instruction). So I'm still trying to figure out how to remove it without having to remove entire headliner which I'm not willing to tackle to be honest. Also, I'm in Louisville KY area and it's too cold here to be take a closer look at it. His vehicle is outside in his driveway so hopefully I can catch a few sporatic "warm" days to go and look at it.
******I guess another option would be to purchse ENTIRE glass and all? Wouldn't hurt to have an extra. BUT still am faced with actual removal process withouth the work of entire headliner. Maybe it CAN be removed on my model without internally taking down the headliner?? I could just be over looking something??????
