20x10 rim fitment question/ width and offset question
Hello all,
I just joined the forum a month or two ago and have been pleased with the knowledge I've bumped into thus far.
I am in a dilemma and would love some answer from any rim/wheel fitment masters out there, that knOw the specs inside out.
I own a 1998 S420 and am aware the specs from 94-99 are diff from those before.
The wheels I am looking at are alloys 20x10 all around. Here are the specs for the wheels:
diameter= 20
width= 10
offset= 42
hub bore= 66.5
I just bought a set of 18 inch wheels 2 months ago with a 35ET and tried to put 18X9.5 in the front and was told they would stick out, so I went the staggered fitment route and now have 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear.
The wheel specs just above, I am told to get spacers to get the 42 down to a 35. That is no problem at all, but what I am confused about is the width. Discount Tire(who I trust a great deal) has told me they are too wide for the front. But the seller has told me to contact the forum for answers, as he has said he has seen w140s with wheel specs of 20x10.5 front and 20x12 rear.
In the meantime, I will search the forum for already posted answers? It may be buried somewhere, but wanted to start a new thread so my inquiry is easy to spot, as time is of the essence.
Can anyone help me out?
