99 S500 trunk 1/4" open

I just joined this forum after lurking since Nov when I got my 99 S500. It had 113k when I got it, 118 now. I was actually planning on flipping it but after driving it for a week I knew I wouldn't be able to sell it. It's an amazing vehicle and I've learned more about cars/engines/MB's in the last 6 months then I thought I would in my whole life. I haven't been this excited to learn about something in a very long time, and it's pretty great. This forum has taught me a ton, so thank you for that. Looking forward to learning a lot more.

Anyway!

There's very few issues with the car but one thing that bothers me is the trunk won't quite close 100%. I assume theres a leak somewhere but it does appear to keep some of the suction so I'm not sure. I would think if air was able to escape at all you'd lose the whole deal, but maybe they section it off or something, not sure.

When you close the trunk, the system engages and it goes all the way down. But immediately after that, theres a faint tssss sound for maybe 1 second coming from the bottom left of the trunk. I'm no expert but I feel like it's not supposed to do that. I guess that's probably the problem, but not sure how I would go about repairing that.

Any input would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
