MAF bad at 44k miles?
 

The check engine light had come on a few times and shut off. Happened first time about two months ago, thought it was the gas cap, so I tightened it and the light shut off the next day. Fine for two months.

About two weeks ago, the light came back on, shut off, came back on and then shut off again. Thought I'd better call the dealer and make an appointment to have them check the stored codes.

This morning, they found codes for a bad MAF. Common for them to go this early? '01 with 44k miles :-/ Good thing for warranty covering it :y

It's common on these early models, mine went out on me also. Same symptoms as yours. Replaced it and everythings is fine.

Looks nice, should be able to get high 40s for it. Unfortunately these cars drop in value like a prom dress on prom night. Mileage has a lot to do with the value as does carfax. Personally I would never pay more than around 60K for a rapidly depreciating asset and this will probably be my last benz as they can be a money pit. Hope it sells soon.
