Just bought a 500 motor w/35k miles on it
Will be transplanted into my S430 this time next month, Talked w/Jim(Mechtech) & Bill(HPS) and they both said I'll be fetching nearly the same rwhp as the hps II 5.4 AMG motors, I have additional cat delete mods w/racing cats for secondaries + the 500 motors can run more boost safely compared to the 5.4's
So I'll be getting around 380-390 ish @ the wheels!!
Here's a couple pic's I snapped of both our cars @ the place I bought the motor, 1 of the workers has a S500 w/similar facelift mods & blacked out Brabus wheels pretty cool He has some AMG style tips powder coated black, welded to the stock exhaust...

Thanks guys....Motor ended up right around $3,000 + my core return
Can't wait Newton I have her debadged I agree it would be funny, but anyone who sees my car at a glance wouldn't mistake it for an S430 even if I rebadged it S430 w/quad tipps and all

Wait, $3K for the motor? That's a great deal considering that a E55K motor with the same mileage is around 10K more. I kno, I kno, it's a handbuilt AMG, but the cost for a 500 motor is great. Any idea how much the swap is going to cost?

Where did you get the motor from? Was it a lucky one-off deal from a junkyard? Or is it a company that specalizes in selling used motors?
I have an S280 back in asia, and if I can get a 500 motor for just 3000 bucks, wow, that will be a great deal. Even after shipping which may cost 5000 bucks and installation, it will be a good deal... the 500 is like 50k more than the 280.
I wonder whether the engine will matter if I have a RHD versus a LHD.

It was a lucky salvage yard find, but I think he has two 2000/2001 w220 S500 motors for sale, There not the previous generation 1999 motors they wouldn't even work w/my blower..
Mine is 2001 35k & comes w/6 month warranty, the other is 2000 w/ 60k If anyones interested pm me and I'll fwd you contact info.
I got the Vin# w/ all verifying mileage records, no flood damage.....
You'll need your old working motor in trade as a core return w/sale.
Installing new motor w/Supercharger is going to cost me an additional $2200.00..... If you were just changing out motors, probably $500-900 bucks in that case.
