Radar Detector Power Source ?

Hello everyone
I know this type of question has been asked a million times and I have read every forum post about it but I am unsure..

I will be installing a radar detector near the rear view mirror. I was able to remove the top panel and access all the wires. My only problem is I am not sure where to safely tap in the wire for power. I read somewhere a long time ago that the SOS button is a good place but I saw the wire and it was very thin (dont think its enough to support the button and radar detector)

Does anyone recommend a good 12v wire to tap into that wont cause any fuses to blow?

Tap the power from the aux power (Cigarette lighter) below your command. You will have to take out the ash tray to access this power source.

As kenstudios says use the wire behind the cigarette lighter. Just remove the two screws above the ashtray put the car in drive and slide the ashtray out remove the wireing plug and splice into the posative wire. This wire is ignition controled and so power to your radar detector will be shut down when you leave the car. I've done this for 2 accesories in my car (bluetooth phone, And radar detector) with no fuse problems.

Problem is i will be hooking it up at the very top next to the rear view mirror. it would be very easy if there was just a power source there to tap into which im sure there has to be

It doesn't matter where the power source is. The radar detector is pulling very low amps and you can run that wire as long as you need it. Anything electrical is gonna need some power pulled from somewhere. It's always never where you want it to be.
