Help! There is no thrust in my 600..!
Well, compared to an 190E it still is fast, but not as it should.
I mean, the car's supposed to have 500hp, and 800Nm of torque stock, and
I bought it in Germany at a MB dealership, with only 62000 Km (99000 miles).
And on my way back home from Germany, I had it tuned for 1200,- €uros.
The german company that tuned it said it's now 578hp, and 910Nm.
And he told me not to be disappointed at first, because it'll take a 4-5 hours drive before the car adjusts to all the new data, and have full effect.
But the thing is, when I clocked the car a week later (with a G-Tech, and a stop watch, I was PRETTY disappointed!
From 0-100 km/h (or 62 m/h) it took 5,2 s..! Stock does it in 4,7 s.
From 0-200 km/h (125 m/h) it took 19 s..! Stock does it in 15 s.
1/4 mile in 13,7 s, with an end speed at 172 km/h (107,5 m/h)..!
Pretty embarrasing, wouldn't you say..?!
Especially, since it suppose to lack only 34hp to a 65 AMG!
Something is terribly wrong here..!
I directly called the german tuner. And he said;
-"There must have been something wrong with the car in the first place, before the tuning".
I said that I couldn't tell, since the drive before the tuning wasn't long enough.
So, he told me to take it to the MB dealer where I live, to have it examined.
I did, and they told me that the separate cooling system for the intercoolers, had an "air pocket". That means, the temperature there is to hot, and that means, that the car lowers the turbo pressure automaticly.
Makes sense, doesn't it?
Well, they fixed that, and they also replaced a circulation pump there.
But, it didn't help!!!
So now what..? Does anyone have a clue..?
Or a simular car, so you please can clock that one, for comparason...
I'm desperate here.
Best regards,
maxabo.

s65AMG, sl500
The power figures they quote sound very good
My stock S55 500bhp 516lbft , would do 4.7 secs 0-60 mph 10.1 ish 0-100 mph , 24 secs 0-150 mph.
Vid http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=A...igclipNOsmusic
A stock S600 if anything should be a little quicker, as you say your car tuned at 578 bhp should be quicker.
My S65 will get to 0-150 mph in just over 19 seconds.
If no problems are showing up on the diagnositic machine and the car is running smoothly , maybe they should check the turbos again first ??

Mmmm: Thanks alot for the video! Very nice!
I clocked that one from 0-200km/h (125m/h) in about 16 seconds.
And as I said, a stock 600 is supposed to do that in 15 s. That matches up really good!
And mine does that same run in 19 s...
So you think I should start with the turbos? To see if they deliver the right bar-pressure. Since the engine runs smoothly, that probably makes sense...
Do you perhaps know how much they suppose to deliver?
And how much does your 65 deliver?
Would be interresting to know...
Thanks 4 the tip!

Get another opinion and take it to an independent shop who knows Mercs. Your dealer and "tuner" are going to play the finger pointing game.
Will the thing burn out when you hit the gas at at 40 mph? It should drop down a gear and try to get out from under you.
I'd also take it to a dyno and see really what it's making. A stock car should be putting down around 415 rwhp.
A stock S600 can run the 1/4 in 12.45 secs and 0-60 in 4.3 secs and 1-100 in 9.7 secs. I've seen it for myself.
A RENNTech tuned car can best both by a second, Treynor's old S600 is proof-positive of this. Ad additional 100 hp and 100 tq -- roughly.

Marky,
What does PM mean? Is it the software?
Excuse me, but my english isn't what it suppose to be...
blackE55,
it doesn't take off from 40 m/h as you explained. Far from it.
It takes 5,2 seconds to 62 m/h.
Stock does that in 4,7 and mine "should" do it even faster...

MBWorld Fanatic!
It sounds like the turbo boost is limited. The only way to get to the bottom of this is to get the stock ECU program restored and dyno the car. Can the tuner undo what he did? Otherwise, you will need a dealer to restore your stock software. A reputable tuner will restore his changes for free or for a nominal fee later. If he won't, you should start with one who is.
