Rust on Trunk? possible?
2000, S500, 109,000 miles.
They told me MB would pays for 50%, I pay the other 50%. But it must be done at the authorized MB shop AND they must fix 100% of all issues, not just the trunk. I have not take it in for an estimate yet.
I told them that this was not acceptable. If MB is willing to pay for 50%, then they are aware of this issue.
Just sent another email today requesting an update. If my dealer cannot get this done, then I requested for the MB contact name and number.
I added that my daughters 1999 Ford Taurus, 140K or our 2000 Pontiac Montana, 125K does not have any rust.

All steel panels were galvanised from Quarter 1 2003 production onwards.
During the previous quarter (Q4 2002) the process was gradually introduced
on the production line and therefore some vehicles were galvanised during
this lead-up period, but not all.

I'd be very surprised if Mercedes don't put this right. Your habdbook should say how long the guarantee is. But Mercedes have been good at fixing cars out of guarantee, as well.
