$90, helped change the interior look
I'm not much into wood & leather steering wheel, for two reasons: (1) lack of grip , and (2) make the cabin look more like a boat cabin. Number (1) is more of a reason. I found a steering wheel from 2004 S55, with sport pattern, paddle shift, and much thicker padding, but then found out the hard way that it DOES NOT fit. Lucky that the place I bought from allows for return. , From 2003 on, the S55 and S430/500 have different steering control system, completely different !!!, so don't repeat my mistake.
However, I now found an OEM wood & leather shift knob, though used, is in really good condition. Found it help to improve the look of the interior quite a bit. I like this more than the all-wood shift knob.
The chrome piece near the shifter is the control pad for the Motorola IHF1000 Bluetooth handsfree system, highly recommend, excellent sound quality & amazing features.
Btw, this is the S55 steering wheel that I bought, then returned since they don't fit the regular W220.

The Tiptronic wheel should fit like very other wheel, with the difference that you cant connect the switches for the gearbox if you have a early model. The other switches shoudl function as usual.
Can you explain what your problem was ?
Cheers, Frank

The S/CL55 steering wheel is tilt to one side, the axle is going in at an angle, which adjust itself as you turn, to keep the steering surface flat to driver, pretty complex.
Because of this, the airbag is not interchangeable, and even if you use the S/CL55 airbag, since the steering axle of the non AMG is straight, the AMG steering wooble in it, and keep going in and out as you turn, and hit the turn signal arm.
Looking at the pix of the two side by side, you'll see what I mean

Hi Z.
Thanks for the pictures. That helped indeed to show your problem.
From the picures i would say the wheel is from a car accident.
A new one isnt bend at all and the airbags are "one size fits all".
Therefore, one more indication thats from an accident.
Cheers, Frank

I agree with frank.. There is somthing waaaaayy wrong with that steering wheel. They are interchangable physically. But that one has some other issues.
