Somebody keyed my car.......should I file a claim?

I guess me driving a benz was just too much for someone to handle.....lol, and they felt the need to express themselves. Happened in parking garage at work a few hours ago, and looked fresh like within minutes of me getting there.
Anyway sorry no pics, but they got the rear and front drivers door.
Do you think it's worth it to file a claim with my insurance. I got a $500 dedcutable, I know a few body-men, one said take it to a coupel MB dealerships for a qoute then have him repair it and get a little extra for upgrades, but how much will my premiums increase if I do this. It may be able to be buffed out, (50/50) I ran my fingers back and forth across it vigorously but it was still visible just not as white

just got back from the MB dealership where my buddy is a detailer, he tried wetsanding and buffing it out. No luck, just not as defined. He told me the body shop would probably charge upwards of 3 grand to paint both doors. Guess I'll wait to hear what the insurance guy says tomorrow. Going to drive my classic chevy to work tomorrow just for the hell of it
**edit to add pic**

Cool

Sorry to hear about some phuk head doing you. Make the claim and get it done...ask about a whole car repaint....it might be worth doing with a little negotiation...if you plan on keeping the car. if not, paint the doors, pay the $500 and get a gun.

$3K really?? That sounds absurd. The Dealers getting my Door repainted (for free, bought the Car with it), it had a scratch much like the one on your front Door.

Sorry to hear about that though, that sucks big time and I hope that person smashed their car into a pole on the way home

Now that was an intelligent comment!!... Who said it was a poor person? would you hate yourself? because it you are not one of the top 4% you're a few paychecks from being the same just like the rest of us..

Don't blame this act of pure stupidity on the poor as if rich people don't do stupid sh&*t every day. It's better to say that you hate the mentality of the poor A-hole who felt it was in his calling to offset his own Karma by doing damage to someone elses property..

My car was keyed by some hater in a very exclusive neighborhood... What does that tell you?.

BTW.. To someone who is actually wealthy.. you are poor. How does that make you feel?

Easy there son, control yourself.

Usually haters/keyers/whatever are people that don't possess a certain criteria/object/etc. I'm applying a stereotype bias obviously. Of course I don't know the exact status of the person that did this but in all likelyhood it was a person envious of this car, and in most cases that would be a person that cannot afford it. Probably not some person that hates Mercs like a 1940s Polish Jew, nor a die hard BMW fanatic.

Don't try and pull that bleeding heart, turn the tables on me crap saying that rich people do stupid **** as well as poor, and that I am also poor compared to someone like Paris Hilton. I don't care. Obviously there are retards in all facets of life, but the majority of retards that do **** like this would be poorer people that cannot afford this car, envious of what you possess.

Interesting thought! If you do what is suggested here make sure you do not use the same set of keys when you get your insurance adjuster involved. I have heard that the adjusters will look at the keys to see if there is the same color residue at the tip of any key you hand them as is on the damaged portion of the vehicle. I would advise you not to use the same set of keys. I would also like to say that I would not key my own car, Karma is truly a "B".

sorry for your loss. But $3000 to paint two doors is crazy. It shouldn't cost more than $1000. I could get it done for $800 at a reputable shop

guy at the MB dealer told me he'd do it for $600 under the table. Apparently my insurance guy snuck in a $1000 deductible to lower my monthly premium, so it was totally pointless to file a claim. The adjuster wants to look at the car when and wherever I take it a body shop to talk to the body man on what she thinks it should cost vs. what it would cost. I'll probably do it on my own, but just not right now. I honestly feel like if I'm shelling out $800 on up on a paint job I should consider adding a body-kit and repainting the whole car.

While agree with some if this.. To me its still a bad stereotype.. But thats hardly worth flaming about.. just my opinion. No bleediing heart here..

I have a saying.. "Marketing is all about perception".

People look at these cars and think they cost a lot and they could never afford them when we all know the truth about that. Some folks are driving around in US made SUV's that cost more than I paid for my car but they look at me with envy.. "Perception"...

I don't feel that people do bad things to other peoples stuff because they can't afford them, so in my mind that would not bunch those people who do bad things to people who have things and poor people all in the same bucket.

Envy has no status... rich people envy as well as the poor. And yes Stupid comes in all shapes sizes colors nationalities and social status..

Some days I hate people in general!!!..Scotty pleeease beam me up.. LOL
