Thumbs up Adding Performace Chips to a 2005 S600 - Will I be Fast or Furious???

Hi Everybody!

I have been looking for some fun things to do to my 2005 S600. We have a Baby on the way so my Wife says no more big spending for me for a little bit.

I keep seeing chips ranging from $69.00 all the way up to $3,000.00 and I want to know, what gives? Obviously a hands on tuning is going to be better but does anyone know anything about using the less expensive chips advertised for this car and it's Bi-Turbo getting an additional 50hp & 50 ft lbs. with +3 to +6 mpg? I want to have a fun (inexpensive) project but am afraid I will do more damage than good. Will I haul a little more **** or will this be a dangerous thing for a novice to mess around with. If they are being truthful, this would be so fun and worth it...

Thanks for reading and posting comments, advise or experience.

Also, if anyone has bought the V-12 Bi-Turbo side badges and they turned out well I would like to know where to order them. Oxygen's are just like what I want but I am unsure of exactly how to lay hands on them.

a 69 dollar chip is a Dorito at an exensive restaurant.. NOT a performance peice for your car.

If you feel 2500.00 is wirth the dough for our to get a few more horses from your already very powerful car, then go for it. BUt ou have a couple of oxymorons in your post.

inexpensive and fun.
More horsepower and beter mileage.

these don't really belong in the same sentence if you;re really serious.

Dude they tune the damn ECU, there is no where to put a chip in. LOL @ $69 chip they will just take your $$ and send you a piece of plastic.

Stop this crap and get a Real Tune.

First off, who has a performance upgrade for $69.00? I'd like to see exactly what it is and what it does. Then we would be better equipped to give some informed help. Personally, I have never seen an inexpensive performance upgrade for our cars. I believe what's been said in the above replying posts is correct. Right now Veloce has a 90 days same as cash, https://mbworld.org/forums/group-pur...same-cash.html, Kleeman had a $2,500.00 special until Dec. 31st , https://mbworld.org/forums/sl55-amg-...u-special.html, and RENNtech is, well, RENNtech is RENNtech. Not too many discounts. I decided to tune with RENNtech because they are 10 minutes down the road from me, and they have a good reputation. If you find something that works for our cars, and is fairly inexpensive, I'm sure we'd all like to know. It can't hurt to keep searching.

And for my own education, what other tuners for the biturbo are out there besides Kleeman, RENNtech, and Veloce?

The $69.00 thing is an absolute joke. Oxygen posted some pictures of the one I was looking at that someone ordered as a joke. It is a small plasctic box with a little transistor thing in it. It looks like it cost about $2 to make with a part bought at Radio Shack (nothing against them).

I appreciate the posts and will pony up for the extra ponies. I usually post questions on both forums so saw the pics on the other site.

Thanks again guys. As for the question about others who tune Bi-Turbos, I wish I could help but am obviously a newb. I will be talking with You guys soon.
