V12 engine oil cooler, ABC leak questions

I'm researching a used 2001 S600 and learned it's common to have a very expensive engine oil cooler leak. If this leak has been fixed, is it likely to re-occur? Or are new parts redesigned and unlikely to leak in the future?
I have read this leaking issue was eliminated in 2003+ S600's. Is this true?

I have also read ABC leaks are common, is this system difficult for a home mechanic to service? I know there is one line that requires either dropping or lowering the transmission to access, but it can be replaced under recall. Are there any other common leak areas not covered under recall that are similarly difficult to access? If so, are airmatic components less expensive and/or easier to access and replace?

In my opinion DO NOT BUY any 2001 - 2002 NA S600. They were very problematic, engine coils were the major issue. They are very expensive to repair and they are out of warranty. Don't own any MB V12 out of warranty they will eat up up!!!!!!

Thanks, how about on the 2003 models? I would like to avoid getting a car/engine that has a common problem where a repair involves removing the cylinder heads.

2003 and later should be fine... opt for 2004 or later if you can, better NAV system. None of the ABC suspension or motor issues on these cars are really any job for home mechanics. Airmatic, yes. ABC, HELL NO.
