My new wheels

I got the 2003 18" S600 wheels with Bridgestone 245/45 S-03's installed. The extra cushy ride is gone, but the car handles so much better, and I like the way it looks.

Looks good... I can't tell if they are bigger than the 17's in the same design, but maybe if I saw them side to side in person.

Do you mind saying how much it cost you?

Thanks, they do look larger than the 17 " in person. The wheels (new) were $388 per, tires came from Luke at Tirerack at $196 plus $10 shipping per.

Premed, you know what else is cool about these wheels, is that they are forged and weigh only 21 lbs vs. 29 for the AMG's. They are made of a special alloy containing magnesium. Plus you won't see them all over the place like spoke wheels.

IMHO i think they look too 2 dimensional, like a triangle that you're supposed to remove from the circle it was molded within.

Yeah, people seem to either love them or hate them. I think they look awesome in person and have received many favorable comments in only 2 days.
I am so tired of spoked wheels, which are on everything. Saw a Toyota or something with stock split spoke wheels, look basically like MB wheels. Spokes are on everything.

sweet wheels crankin, what kind of wheels are those though, chrome or highly polished? or is there a difference, 2001-2002 had highly polished for S600, those look kind of like chrome.

These wheels are highly polished also, but look almost like chrome on the silver car, but with more luster.

So the car handles a lot better with the wider 245 tires?

Which rims/tires did you have on it before?

We have the 2001 S600 with the stock rims that are 17s. I want to upgrade them because I don't feel they give enough grip for the size of car and capabilities of the ABC.

Would you say the 245s are enough or should I go for even wider, perhaps a staggered setup like the AMGs?

Thanks.

///MB, yes, the car does handle much better. I have not even set the suspension to the sport setting yet. No need.
The stock wheels for this 2000 S500 were 16" with 225 tires, I think. I now have the wide S-03's all around. They are wider than comparable 245's and are all the tire I need. This setup is what comes on the non-Sport 2003 S600, so it should be enough.
However, the Euro version uses a staggered setup with 245 in front and 265 in rear. That might be the best or maybe even 275 in rear if you are going to bother staggering.

Yup, the Euro S600 has the 8 by 18 front and 9 by 18 rear. I don't know how difficult it would be to get the 9 inch wheels, but I have the part # for the 8 inch ones if you need it.
