what's best way to pay for car?
hi guys,
looking to buy a car in NY from CA, and they're supposed to ship tmrw. what's the best way to pay for this and try to have some protection? this is an indep used car dealer in long island, and they have 50+ cars and a website so i'm thinking they're reputable? obviously paying them via wiring funds is easy, but what's the best way for me to get protection? i asked him to email me the sales contract to review, and i'm going to google a bit. any advice from people will be appreciated. thx. Which car did you end up getting? The 2006 CLK?
Maybe ask them what they recommend, they may have some experience with this. |
I think PayPal would be good to use, contact them to see if they accept (dealer) it and if paypal will offer protection for the price you're paying for.

I bought my s600 in San diego and I live in MD. I flew out to the dealership drove the car and drove it to my own inspector. I basically let them hold my cashier check for the car and let them slap on a dealer tag for the weekend. I had to show proof of insurance by faxing them the policy but it all was good. After the weekend was over I went back in with the car, signed the paperwork and had them drive me back to the airport and flew home. They shipped the car right to my driveway a week later and it was a very easy process. Best way.

1.
You may want to post the name of the Dealer you are dealing with for any feedback (positive or negative) from the Forum. 2. I don't recommend paying for the car in full before you see it, review the sales contract, it should say when the car arrives, you have the right to inspect it and upon full satisfaction of the buyer, payment is provided. 3. Lastly, possibly someone from this Forum who lives on Long Island NY can help you out by looking at the car on your behalf, it has been done before. Good Luck! |
I hope its not the place in roslyn. they have a bad bad reputation

lots of shady used car dealers on long island. And NY cars are terrible compared to Cali cars (salt on the roads and in the undercarriage etc) .
I would avoid and find a Cali car, theres a huge selection of MB here in SF , dont know why you would go cross country since these arent rare cars? |
Best thing as mentioned before is to fly out there or have someone fly out or someone from NY look it over even if you have to pay them, it will save you a lot of possible headache and worries later on. The car in the picture may not be the car that you get. NY and surrounding states have very hard and harsh winters, some states do not record salvage titles, or maybe stolen etc so ( check papers) depending on your state laws you maybe stuck with a vehicle that you cannot title. i do not know the dealer but i am just trying to help you check every possible angle. :y.
