central lock system problem
hello
a couple of day ago i went to go use my car(2005 s500 4matic) and i could not open the trunk and the silver latch was out. i the realized none of the door locks would respond to my fob or alarm control key thing. after checking some things i dont think the vacuum pump is working. i checked the fuses under rear passenger seat and the 20amp fuse which i have been told is for the vacuum pump was blown, i put a new fuse in and it blew right away. by then it was getting hot and i was not happy so i stepped away to cool down. this is where i'm at guy's and gal's hope someone can lead me in the right direction because my next move is trying to unplug the vacuum pump and replacing the fuse to see if it holds. if the fuse holds i would guess i have a bad pump. if the fuse blow's the search goes on.
thanks everyone

central lock troubles
so you think it is the pse pump, if so the fuse should not blow if i disconnect the power going to the pump. if the fuse does not blow i would feel more comfortable spending $700 on the pump, would you agree?
thanks again

The PSE pump is repairable if you're moderately competent.
The I/O port filters get clogged with wear dust, and you just have to clean them out.
Not for novices though; you have to be very careful.

central lolck
hello
today i took out the pse vacuum pump and put in a new 20amp fuse , it did not blow so my pump is toast. i took the pump apart and the ground wire going to the motor was not connected. i was happy for a second thinking , i found my trouble, but that would not make the fuse blow. i put power to the motor and it was seized which heated the ground wire and the solder dripped of , thats why the wire was loose. i took the motor apart cleaned it, it ran for 3 minutes than stopped again. i ordered a new pump for $600. i cant wait to get it. is there any programming that needs to be done? and what is the other black box and theres also a plastic tank with air or hydraulik lines they also connect to something that is covered in grey foam, its rectangular about the size of a small loaf of bread. these box tank and rectangular foam cover are located behind the vacuum pump.
thanks

Power locks work using the botton inside, but not with remote or key.
the remote will set alarm, but nothing happens to the lock/unlock. If PSE, then why locks work using the botton on the dash?
I appreciate any assistance.

I have the same problem (including the instantly blown fuse). There are several pumps on eBay for $300 that are from Salvage cars. Anything wrong with getting one of those (with the understanding it may not last as long)?

If you suspect a bad pump try repairing the pump. What's the worst that can happen? You would have to replace the pump. Da. On the other hand you may get a working pump out of it or delay it's replacement.

A new PSE pump has to be programmed via the STAR system.
MJMUNGER if you purchase a pump from ebay make sure that the part number is the same as yours.
