S600 oil change questions (still reading 1.0 quarts low)

Hi there, recently took delivery of an 03 S600 Sport, love this car so far. I wanted a fresh start since it's got 80k miles and did an oil change with Mobile1 0w-40, and after 10.5 quarts it still says to add 1 quart (at 9.5quarts it said "add 1.5 quarts" and so I added one but it only says "add 1 quart now"). I really don't want overfill (Has anyone used over 11 quarts? I guess that's only 10% overfill, which shouldn't be bad--but I'm still a little intimidated by the complexity of this car, lol).
Is there anywhere to buy a longer dipstick in place of that little 3in nubby thing in the front/pass side of the engine? I just like to keep everything as top notch as possible. thanks a lot!

EDIT: Ok I just went back out 20-30min later and now it says "oil level ok", but of course engine is cooler now. So I'd really love to know if there's a real dip stick one can use. thanks again..

From what I've read here there is no real dip stick. Using the control panel is the only way for the car to check the oil level. Bummer is that using the control panel takes 3x as long as just popping the hood and checking it yourself, plus there are issues such as the one you just described. GL

Yes you can buy a dip stick from MB.

If memory serves me right, its around $200

Yeah, I know, what a rip off. I have just always relied on the dash.

One more note, was the car on level ground?

Whoa, 10.5 qts sounds like way too much. I think it's 9 qts for the 5.5L V12.

Any part number for the dip stick?

I did not even know there was a dipstick on a V12. Always checked in the car, when warm. If you do not want to wait until the oil has flowed back into the sump (the S600 lets you wait for almost 2 minutes) you can display the oil level on the dashboard with the engineering menu. This saves at least 1 minute.

Make sure your MFD is displaying the MILES screen.

Turn Key to OFF
Turn Key to ON (position 1)
Press the R button (right side of cluster) three times while the SRS light is on:

If you pressed the reset button 3 times while the SRS light is on and you were on the MILES screen, your display will display your voltage

You can scroll through the various screens using the page up / page down controls on the left side of the steering wheel.

You'll see the car model, engine type, oil level (when running), software versions, VIN # and a bunch of other information
