what's next?

Just wanted to know what cars you guy's are planning on buying after your w220 and how soon? Also why these choices? I think i am going to be looking at w211 e55,maybe w215 cl55 03+,e60 m5,w219 06 cls55 probably in a year or year and half

the e55 I always loved the shape and the fact that you can make it run 11's with minor mods is a big plus for me. Also you can find them for a really good deal.

the cl55 is probably the least of my wanted cars on the list. I would only get one if I found a steal in great condition. the reason I am saying this is because the styling is getting a bit out dated but I still love them just like the 220.

E60 Is my most wanted car on the list. I think the car is really the ultimate driving machine as BMW says. My buddy has one and wow the speed, handling, styling is just amazing. BMW defiantly handles way better then Benz.

The cls is the second on the list I think it looks unlike any other car and its FAST. But I would only get the 55 not the 63 due to the supercharger. The problem is that they are super rare only made in 06

My friend was selling an E60 a while back. Should've sold it to you he was only asking $30k.

SFBIGBODY415 May 15, 2012 07:42 PM

good deal but I am only going to be buying a new car in about a year

hard to go up from here, but a bentley continental GTC is probably my top choice, followed by a 221 or aston martin v8 vantage volante if I can find one in a good color combo.

I wouldn't trade your car specifically for its package and color combo, definetly a keeper imho.

As for me, it's a 221 s400/s550 loaded with panoramic roof, white or black, tint/lower/wheels.

I'm shooting for mid-late 2013, saving is boring.

stevedel May 16, 2012 04:47 PM

since i am daily driving my car nearly 90 miles a day, i am seriously considering picking up a econo hybrid and then shopping for a clean 964 to toy around with. if i were to stay in the D class segment, i would look at a W221 or a D3 chassis audi.

thanks, it is fully loaded and offers everything I could ask for. I've had it four years now though, so in another 2 or 3 years, i'll probably be ready for something new.

Fraser May 16, 2012 11:41 PM

Most likely a late W221 S600 when the new S Class comes out and the 221s predictably drop massively.

I could be swayed by a Continental Flying Spur though.

SFBIGBODY415 May 17, 2012 04:10 AM

ohh yes one car I left out is the w221 for sure

classyS May 17, 2012 10:34 AM

i have the flying spur in diecast, its definitely my dream sedan though i know i should never own it..

Definately a w221 is my choice. Actually looking already.:)

haoz129 May 17, 2012 01:28 PM

Still want to enjoy my cars till I can't fix them.
But if time comes it comes.

Guys,

Why a bentley is so desirable for you ?
In which way it is better than a S600 ?
Seems not that beautiful a continental, don't laugh, teach me.

Thanks.

We've covered 'this' in another thread before but what the heck...

My shortlist:

- Maserati Quattroporte
- W221 S65 or S600
- D3 //S8
- Flying Spur
- F10 ///M5

Basically baulsy cars that are classy and fun whilst able to haul around my 3 monsters, and likely be able to bang around in CT winters (genius plan there on that last bit huh?).

Realllllly would love the Maser, was hoping for that this go-round but it wasn't the right time. I don't care that my car could run circles around one! Eyetalian Temptress, Ferrari goodness...

Another //S8 would be tits, I thoroughly enjoyed my 5yrs / 80k in my D2. All aluminum is enticing, quattro RULES (!!!), and a V10 mit a proper exhaust is addictive. But I worry it won't be 'enough' after 'this' 8-/.

Sure is tough to keep going 'up' in car - what do you do when you hit the ceiling? Maybach??? Heh heh...

We'll see... won't be for another 4yrs or so, hoping (HOPING!) to ride this biatch out until ~ 150k...

Seems many of us share tastes tho...

Interior is in another world compared to designo/S600, and once the depreciation has dropped off after a few years Bentleys hold their value a lot better than any S Class ever could.

Thanks Fraser.
Nice, I'd better check it out.

Still thinking the German engineering the best, hope people want it not just for the 'B'ig name.

Have a nice weekend.

Well, the Bentley name is what keeps the values pretty high ;) And remember who owns Bentley nowadays...it might be nailed together by the Brits but it's all solid underneath.

biturbo W12 for the win - stellar

babybugatti

virtualveyron

The bentley is still another step up, but there are other reasons.

1. AWD with the W12. Big power, but useability in the snow. No AWD with the MB V12s

2. gorgeous interior, more wood, more leather, just more

3. the GTC is a convertible, which mb doesn't offer (don't like the SL for my purposes)

4. proven to be quite reliable and not unreasonable to service.

5. hell, I'll admit it...its a bentley

thats pretty sexay to me.

i like the bentley, particulary the flying spur but the one thing that bugs me about the newer ones is that the shift gate screams VW/Audi.

It's solid for sure.
Now I know there is big influence from VW. It shares engine/chasis with Phaeton/A8.
But the interior should be very different.

Reckless May 21, 2012 04:39 PM

I must be the odd man out. I just bought a 99 750IL with ultra low miles - I miss how german cars used to be made. My S600 has pretty much run $0.80 a mile in service alone which puts in Ferrari territory in my book. I miss the reliability and luxury of the older benz's. I know everyone else buys into the luxury appointments of the new MB's but not me. I feel that everything feels cheap and plasticky compared to the late 90's.

My friend's father just died in a W220 last week (he was hit by a box truck driving through fog). His car was torn up like origami. My dad was rear ended by a semi in his W126 and survived back when they used to be made like tanks. http://www.wlfi.com/dpp/news/local/u...ue-to-accident
