Valve cover fix??
Hey guys i have a question. How much should the parts cost for a valve cover fix by replacing the gaskets? The dealer told me the parts would be $122 and labor $770. With my limited knowledge i know two gaskets should not cost $122 unless it is more than two gaskets that needed to fix leaks. I went to mymercedes.com and left and right gaskets cost less than $60 combined. Am i missing something. The dealer just said its the parts that needed to fix valve cover leak. What do you think. My mechanic will charge me $250 labor. Just want to know is there something else needed to replace valve cover gasket. It should take 5 hrs to do both. Might do it in a couple of weeks.

dealership parts price is indeed about 2x what you can find online.
Dealer 5 hours labor @$150/hour and $122 parts
your own mechanic 5 hours labor at $50/hour and $60 parts
Same work. Stealership price.

I thought it might be something other than just the gaskets were needed? Cool just wanted to make sure. How long should i wait before dirving after work is done? I will pick it up after i get off of work.

"Ahhhh shucks"! Don't make me lol. He is my mechanic that i used for years. He fixes all my cars and my rice beater just made 265k miles with his help. And that is what he charges me.he is in bk new york .
