COMAND 2.5 FIRMWARE UPGRADE
Hi all. I've just become the proud owner of a 2002 S430.
Analogue TV was just phased out in Australia and I was wondering whether a Comand 2.5 firmware update is available enabling digital TV.
Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
A firmware update wont help you getting digital TV.
You have an analog TV Tuner inside your car. You have to eighter get a digital tv tuner from mercedes - not very cheap, or just to get an adapter for the digital tv - search for dvb-t adapter. This is to be connected with the analog inputs of your analog tv tuner. The Tuner is located in the trunk, when you remove the left side paneling.
I am about to do exactly the same here in Bulgaria, as the analog tv will be out by the end of september. I'm planning to install a more advance DVB-T adapter, which has USB input and can play movies too. The only problem there is, that you cannot control it through the command, but only through the adapter - changing stations and so on. It has a remote control. It will be tricky, but not impossible, to disasemlbe the adapter and to bring a wire from the trunk to the front of the vehicle with the infrared receiver of the adapter, so you can control it from the drivers seat with the remote.

Multimedia AV Video Interface
Thanks for your iput Svetlo,
I purchased the DVB-T tuner which has an extension cable for the remote receiver.
Apparently you also need a AV Video interface which will let you use the Comand controls.
