2001 s600 n/a v12

95005 miles. All black interior and exterior, Black tinted windows. AMG sport package and AMG wheels.

I've done some coolant work, replaced the passenger side coil pack. Going to do some ABC work soon and exhaust work. I do all my own work except the exhaust.

curious as to what y'all have and how many miles ya think they will go..i plan on pushing my until the engine blows…gonna try for the 500,000 mark..i change the oil every 3,000 with mobil 1 and take dam great care of it…previous owner was a mechanic and took excellent care of it…the old saying "ya get what ya pay for"these were the top of the line cars back in 2000 out of all high end luxury cars…they are well built.
2003 S500 Designo Edition AMG rims, 113,000 miles. Just bought this black beauty 3 weeks ago and am going to tune it up this weekend. So far loving the car & somewhat glad it doesn't have ABC. First time benz owner!!

06 S430 105k runs and looks like new. I was just wondering when should I flush my
coolant system change my thermostat, idler, & serpentine belt. I believe in preventive
maintenance
thanks in advance

If you just bought it and don't know when it was last done , now is a good time to do it to establish a baseline , thereafter every 5 years is good

2004 S600
Bought a 2004 S600 a year ago with 69k miles. Now has 74k miles. No major issues. Park assist is a bit out of whack. Previous owner must have bumped something. Small crack in the front bumper. Going to be needed some lower ball joints soon. Squeaks over ever crack in the road and when you turn the wheel. Not a big deal just a nuisance really.

I have 278,000 miles and runs like brand new, needs minor repairs as far as new ball joints and figure why my suspension sometimes like to **** up in the rear. Other than that loving it, change oil, tires, and add some seafoam every once in a while.

About 6 years ago my parents bought old w220 s500 off a pair of wealthy mexican nationals, back in 2012 they paid 10 grand for it.. with it only having 11k miles that was a once in a lifetime deal. And yes in 6 years i doubled the milage.

W212 Estate, CLS63 AMG that eats camshafts
2000 S430 - back seat passenger took the photo.

I put another 800 miles on within 3 days. It's been in the family since 2002, mine since 11/2016.

It's not pretty (unless you're more than 10M away) but EVERYTHING works, and the interior is in better shape than the interior of the car it replaced.

It replaced a 2007 CLS63 AMG that at 87,000 mi. Bought the CLS new and dlr did all the recommended service.

200k!

I have a silver 2003 S500 it was a dealer demonstrator with 1700 miles, but I've had it since so 14 1/2 years and now has 63K. we just love this car and it still looks mostly new even though I live in the snow/rust belt.
Tires, wipers, oil and a battery is all I needed besides regular maintenance, tranny fluid/filter,coolant at 30k and 60k, fuel filter, coolant and serpentine belt at 60k in the first 13 years. The last two years have been different; air suspension pump, front and rear air struts, air valve body and PSE pump, washer pump, crank position sensor, tranny TCU plug fitting,
My wife drives to work three miles and to church two miles and the grocery two miles so this car gets fifty miles a week at the most, at this rate we will have it another 15 years unless it starts rusting.
I have newer and older Mercedes but this is my favorite, especially if it stops breaking, reminds me I still have the stock brakes with 6 MM left!

Unfortunately, the short trips are really, really tough on the car.

We do drive it to Arizona every other year and Myrtle Beach the in between years, but you are right Wally, and thanks for your help over the years, without you and some others on this site I would have had to trade this car in years ago, much appreciated... And yes the non-Mercedes people think it's new !

I have the S500 Designo Edition;

Anything special to get it up there? Don't get me wrong, I've replaced pretty much everything rubber or fluid on the car.

Car has been dealer maintained since Day 1, with an open checkbook. I drove 4 hours a day between Princeton, nj and Wilmington, DE for work. I drove an s-class because it was the only car I could step out of after 4 hours and feel ok. I put 600,000 miles on 3 s-classes over 10 years. My favorite was a diesel w140, but I had constant electrical problems.

I love my current car because of the designo package and the espresso paint option. I am able to keep it running like new because only the top mechanic at the dealership is allowed to work on the car. I have spent $40k in maintenance since 2013. I opted to rebuild the motor with all new parts and peripherals for $14k about 50k miles ago. Not long after that I installed a new transmission for $6500.

The first airmatic strut started to leak last week and burned up the pump. I am debating whether to sell the car for parts or fix it. I am confident it will run another 100,000 miles without anything major should I decide to do the struts.

Nothing rides like an s-class. Nothing I have driven at least. And I have tried lots of cars. The downside is that maintaining an older Mercedes is very expensive.

I test drove a Lexus LS460 the other day. Beautiful, fast car. However, I felt cramped and missed the thigh support my Mercedes seat offers. Also, the quality of the ride of the Mercedes, absorbing road bumps, contributes to feeling rested when I get where I am going. More importantly, the ability to spread out and stretch my legs, and the low seat mean that my back, hip, and poor blood circulation in my legs don’t bother me. 15 min in an uncomfortable seat and I start to look for the ejection handle.

I wish I were comfortable in a cheaper car, but I am not. What price do you put on avoided leg pain, back pain and nerve damage?
